I'm not very involved with the strat warz, but it seems that if radar strats are killed not only should the individual bases dar re-up time take longer, but the range of darbar sightings deep inside the oppositions territory should be shortened.
I saw a mission take off from my country today from our HQ, and 5 mins later the opposing side was heckling them.
Why not give an incentive to kill radar factories so that taking off in large groups from behind lines will not be seen, and therefore more surprising.
It's just kinda funny to see the antennas go up on 200 when a group ups from their on HQ and the opposition can see it.

+1
It'd be nice, if the dar-bar the player was creating, was disabled 'only' when flying wihtin their own country's radar. If you fly out of friendly radar zone, then the dar-bar would pop.

1+ :aok Good idea

Yeah, let's make a combat game harder to find the combatants. It saddens me to see so many people wanting to make it easier to sneak around capturing bases "cuz we need to win teh warz". The game is about combat, plain and simple. Everything in the game is all about creating conflict and combat.

Ahhh yes, damn the few that want a semi-realistic radar scheme!!

Ahh yes, damn the many that want a fun game and play for the fights. Realism to a point is good, changing the radar system as you wish would benefit the game how? Flying around forever hoping to run into an enemy, or waiting for a darbar to pop so you can take off only to meet an enemy that has a 15k alt advantage?

Did you even bother to read the initial posters request thoroughly?

Yes I did. I voiced my opinions; you voiced yours. I am not interested in arguing. :salute

Lol, I guess you really got rubbed the wrong way by my post as another "make it easier for me I don't like to fight whine."
I never mentiond Realism, avoiding combat, or capturing bases.
I'm not asking for darbar over friendly bases to ever be taken out without hitting HQ. I agree that would make it harder to find a fight. I'm just saying that seeing 10 sectors into the enemy dar bar is not needed to defend. It's too much of an advantage.
For the record I prefer fighting the bomber groups. From that perspective I think it would be more of a challenge if I didnt have 45 minutes to an hours notice when they up from their headquarters. It also gives even more incentive for bombers to go hit the radar factory.
HTC changed the strat system for a reason. I think they did it to make the strats more important to induce bombing raids. Maybe I'm wrong. Fighting Bombers is not my favorite thing to do, but I dabble in all aspects of the game. For the guys that enjoy this style of play I thought it would make their bombing runs more enjoyable if there were more reasons to do it.

What exactly would change the physics of radio waves used in radar by destroying the factory where the radar sets are built?
Kill the radar factory and destroyed radar is repaired more slowly because the available supply of parts to repair the radar has been compromised.
Seems reasonable the way it is modeled.
Isn't it the same as asking, say after an "aircraft factory" is bombed, the model aircraft can no longer fly as far or as fast because of damage to the factory? Not that the aircraft or parts are no longer available but that the aircraft no longer perform the same.
Bomb HQ instead.

I dont think it is a question of whether the radar is down or the radar strat is down/reduced but more of a question of how far the nearest operational enemy radar is from where you take off from. I do not care that the dar bar shows the red line in a sector showing enemy presence when there is no operational radar within 2-3 sectors. What range of radar detection are we talking about in the game???? I mean if the dar bar refelcts enemy aircraft on the map anywhere why even have radar as all you have to do is follow the little redlines??? I would think that unless there is an active enemy radar within say 2 zones of where you take off from and you are inside friendly territory then you should not be seen on the bar. Now as you near the range of enemy radar the yes you should be seen or the enemy knows something is in the area. Durring WWII neither the germans nor the allies had radar capable of picking up enemy planes as soon as they lifted off. Radar detection was used in depth and as the allies detroyed the german coastal radar sites it left teh germans blind until the bombers were over France. However, I realize this is a game and it cant be accurate as we would like. But then again how many pilots have you talked to wne ton combat patrols in WWII and they saw nothing but blue sky because they did not have the ability to know where the enemy was gonna be????

Bomb HQ instead.

This would be fine if HQ was made a little harder to resup... As it is now you spend a couple hours bombing it and in 5 or 10 min a few flights of C-47's have it back to full power....
As for this thread I do agree, I see no reason for the other country to see you upping at the back of your country.... Hmm maybe they have spies at all of our rear fields with long range radio gear to inform on any flights taking off. :O :uhoh

I know bombing dar may be "realistic" but it is annoying as hell. I look @ dar bars to determine where I am going to fly, and the position of eny/friendly dot dar as to where int he sector the fight IS. Dropping dar makes it difficult to FIND a fight, ive flown for a full tank of gas failing to find a SINGLE con when dar has been down. Now, as soon as dar drops, I go to the other arena, or logoff entirely since it absolutely ruins my fun. Period. Bombing the dar @ a base is fine, but to drop the entire dar for a country (bar and dot) ruins the enjoyment factor.
