Title: Mini Merlin
Post by: Widewing on January 01, 2002, 05:08:00 PM
This 1/8th scale Merlin V-1650 is the centerpiece of the Cabin Fever Exposition this year. Dudley Henriques tells me that it actually fired up and ran on the first try.

Amazing work.

"2.9 hp @ 2 atm @ 3000 rpm "

Coolest moped on the block!

Imagine the street cred (and the sound!) of having that fixed to your skateboard  :)

Definitely a piece of amazing work. Now if we can just get him to construct an accurate P-51 or Spitfire to wrap around it  :) .

About 15 years ago there was a guy who built an Alfa Romeo (might have been Lancia or Ferrari but I think Alfa) in about 1/8 scale that was radio controlled.  It was not a kit, scratch built, with a scale engine similar to that Merlin.  Scale tube frame, scale aluminum body, scale drum brakes, scale everything.
