Title: AH in the jet age!!!
Post by: ares473 on December 07, 2009, 09:43:24 AM
:rock  With AH2 bringing us WWI air combat soon, how about eventually expanding into the Korean and Vietnam airwar?  How cool will that be for players to start mixing it up in F-86's and Mig-15's, F-89 Scorpions for ground attack, F-84's, Skyrays, Panters, F-51's? Then you get to the Vietnam war, flying the F-4 phantom would make players fly and work together more than ever. And just before you think having missiles makes things easy, remember the early days of missile technology in Vietnam were not 100% reliable, sometimes you would pickle 3-4 missiles only to have one success. Some would just fall of the rail, some would launch but fail to track, and all AIM-9's were rear aspect. I would love to see AH at least go into the Korean war. It would be so freakin sweet to have a descent F-86 sim, hell to have an F-86 sim period.

Yeah that has been brought up since WWI was first suggested.  I'm sure it'd be fun, but now isn't the right time.  We've seen a lot of new exciting stuff this year and all of it needs to be refined and fine tuned. If those HTC guys ever get bored they might consider it, but there is much more to do now.

Whoa partner...you're getting way ahead of yourself there. True jets would be cool and people have been bringing it up but...there is still a lot that can be done to improve what exists now.

AH currently does guns only air combat with simple reflector sights and no onboard radar. Any foray into the jet age would require those.

I prefer being 400ft away when shooting someone, not 4 miles.

Korea is where the line in the sand should be.

The F-89 was an interceptor not an attack bird. I agree with you on the rest I'd like to see AH covering every age of aerial warfare someday.

Lets try to get a  full WW2 plane set before modeling a completely different era of technologies, agreed?

I think AH will have a B-29 before F-86/F-4.....

Hmm what makes you think I don't want a full WWII planeset first?
Seeing how WWI aircraft are already being modeled it seems HTC doesn't agree with you.
Besides this is the wishlist you wish for what you want I'll wish for what I want.

That are unflawed. No maintenance or aircraft difficulties such as jams, engine fires and what not. I figure the modeled F-14's will probably ignite on fire and explode on the deck for no reason...

Agreed with Fugitive.

I was, if you notice, i took the time to both put "someday" in bold font, and italicize it. I have no dispute with that statement, however, i do not believe that HTC should launch a massive Jet modeling effort when they are first and foremost a WWII combat flight simulator, I'm not THAT stupid...

P-80 did not see combat service. The YP-80 may have seen the shores of Italy, but it never saw combat.

I'd rather see an arena full of experimental nazi planes than have a Korean arena.

Not EXPERIMENTAL for say but planes that were in prototype flown stage and those that had too little prduction and lack of squadron strength.

I would say the range readout on icons is radar .

+100...  Forget Korea, is was a crappy war anyway.  But what about a Prototype Arena?  Literally WWII never flew's......  Not allowed in the Mains, just in the PA

I'm a man of many wishes.

I want the spit XVII, Spit 21, Spit VII, Seafire Mk III, He-111, Gloster meteor, YP-80, G4M, Ki-43, Yak-3, Beaufighter, Me-410, Do-335, A7M, He-162...

But i'll settle for an unperked Spit XIV.  :D
