which were recorded before the latest version was released
I have multipul backups of my films, all crashes the film viewer when loading. However, the films I recorded today work just fine.
Am I the only one?
-
I just played a film I recorded on July 30, 2009 and it played just fine. Is it possible the terrain in your film has not been updated in your current game installation? Not sure that would cause it.

This could be the problem Skuzzy. I forgot about that. :D

I downloaded an installed all the new maps. I still can't get the films to work without the FV crashing.

Skuzzy, here's a link to one of my films which I'm having trouble with. Could you please try and play it for me?
Thanks.

Any chance you could ZIP it up and email it to me? That site will not allow me to download the file unless I open up my security to allow it to plant some stuff on my computer.

Sure thing Skuzzy.

Can others open film from before 2.17 patch2 ?
From the film and pictures thread.
-
I used a film recorded on 29th september 2009 to do my last movie "Dora Dances" -opened and captured- 5 days ago. Some glitches but it's ok.
-
Greetings Kazaa :)
Downloaded ur film "3 Planes 1 pick", had NO probs whatsoever in viewing it, viewed it internally, externally, F1 & F3, everything's ok! I'm on AH2173 with film viewer & HiRes, so far so good :aok
Btw, enjoyed ur spit flying, could u possibly post more films (spit) so that I'd be able to learn from them, likewise, am seeking to improve my
merges in Spits, any spit merge films that u post would be greatly appreciated. TY :salute

I am having the same issue, except films recorded in the DA before the last update play fine. I suspect it has to do with the maps. (I have gone and downloaded and installed all the updated terrains as well) My install is still located under c:\programs files\htc. (I have always done the upgrade option when a new version comes out)
My next attempt will be to install the new version on a PC that has never had AH installed on it and see if old films will play.
-
OK...definitely something to do with the terrains. I did a complete fresh install of AH and tried playing an old film. It would play until I went online and got updated terrain, then the film viewer crashes when trying to open an old (before 12/2) film. I can move the terrain folder and play the old films, they just don't have any ground.
Let me know if you need any more info to track it down.
-
Kazaa,
Your film crashes my film viewer as well. I can only play films since the new update as well. I have quite a few films that I don't want to lose. I hope HTC can sort this thing out.
-
Ok,
After reading bcadoo's post I dragged my terrain folder to the desk top. I went into an old saved folder I have for settings, terrains, etc..
I dropped the terrain file into my AH folder and viola, films play again (with terrain)
I hope you guys can fix this skuzzy. :)
-
I solved my problems with the film viewer and it seems to be the same problem you're having bcadoo. Simply downloading the terrains will not fix it, you also have to install them. I am using firefox browser and there is a window that pops up showing the status of the download when it is finished just double click the file and follow the prompts.
If you are using IE just do a search for the file you downloaded and double click on it and follow prompts.
-
I have installed all of the terrains and I'm still having the problem.
-
I am able to run films from 2004 (Battle of Britain scenario) and 2008 (Operation Husky scenario).
-
As I DL new terrains, some of my films are starting to crash the film viewer again.
-
MajWoody is your graphics ATI or Nvidia?
-
old agp radeon x800xt 256meg
-
Mine is an ATI too. Went over to a buddy's house the other night and he's running an Nvidia card and he was not having this problem. I don't see how it could matter with the terrain, but just trying to figure out what's going on.
-
Maybe try installing the latest drivers?
-
The problem is with the new terrains. I uninstalled AH after the the new version came out & did a fresh install so I wouldn't have all the patches, etc...
This caused almost all of my films to crash the film viewer. Most of the guys who did the patch update didn't have this problem. I had an old saved terrains folder for a backup. I switched it out with the new one & ALL of my films worked again. That is until I had to start downloading new terrains that were added to the game. As I DL the new terrains it seems that several of my films are starting to crash the film viewer again.
I hope the upcoming update will address & fix this bug.

Hey guys.
I'm unfortunately having the exact same issue. I have a ton of films that I would not like to lose.
Here is a link to a thread on my forum about this issue. Good luck, its in polish.

Here is a direct link to the movie. I up my Spit and take on a group of 38's, managing to shoot some of them down.

I cannot open it or any of the films from that period without crashing the viewer on load.

I made the mistake of downloading all the new terrains to see if it would fix this...
Now 90% or more of my films crash the viewer.
Does anybody have a recent (pre-new-terrain) archive of the MA maps that they can put online for the rest of us to download?
Swapping them in and out is a bass ackwards way of getting it to run, but frankly I need to get some footage off of some of these films before the NEXT issue makes previous films unplayable (again)...
(sorry if that sounds bitter, but there ya have it)

Unfortunately I just dropped the saved terrain folder into my AH folder. I should have copied & pasted it there. Now I no longer have a backup file for terrains. :uhoh
Edit
Just found another backup terrain folder on a cd. I tried it & the film viewer is working.
Don't know where to upload it to share though.
Tried file front & it wants one file at a time

Can a guy named after a Simpsons character get a "D'oh!" ?
-
Skuzzy PMed me with the following.
Sorry about that. The problem lies in the terrain used inthe film. It is a terrain that has been updated to the new standards, but in the film viewer the terrain is the old version.
In the next patch this problem will be corrected.
-
Hellfire, please check your PM.
-
Yes! Please fix the viewer for older films.
Mtnman did some training films that I have saved and I can't open them. The viewer crashes.......I'd hate to lose all of that.

Woot!!!
Thx for the good news Kazaa, & thank you too Skuzzy.

Can't wait.
My skills need a refreasher and the films will help much.
:salute
-
hoping for a patch for this soon, have a bunch of old films i need to post :pray
-
Since my new PC arrived last year I just started filming here of late & I can start all the films but at some point along the way it will stop & I have to disconnect from the viewer. So even though all the films I have are on this current patch & it still crashes is my problem the same as the rest of you? I am on Widows 7 home premium at present.
-
That's a different issue. Ours crashes instantly because it can't initialize the terrains (or something).
