This is an Implacable class carrier, either the class leader or the HMS Indefatigable.

I believe that you are correct. I pulled out an old Janes Fighting Ships and this shows the differences, although slight in many respects. Here's the Indefatigable (not from Janes).

Makes one wonder if the Japanese used the Implacable class as a model.

the navigation isle is the key. my initial thought was an ark royal class cv... til i stumbled over that japanese one oīcourse. greets, jan.
