I read that you never gave the Arado 20mm because it was too hard to model the optical sights. Well, you can add them cause she never had optical sights in real life. Here's a web page for more info: Speculation that 234 never had optical sights (http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/ar234.html)

You do know that those 20mm on the back of the Arado were fix mounted right? They are not mounted on a movable gun mount like the other bombers. I talked to HT about this once and I think his thinking was that it really wasnt on top of the list to do because the relative effectiveness of the guns is far outweighed by the difficulty of modelling the sights to use them.
-
Sling, both the guns on the arado facing backwards were movable. They were aimed by remote by the gunner sitting in the back of teh cockpit facing backwards. The guns (have teh exact numbers in a book), if I remember correct, could be aimed 30 degrees down, 60 or 70 degrees up and 60 degrees out from the fuselage. I have film fotage (on tape not computer) of it aswell when you get to see both the guns move and the, exteremly big comlicated, remote aiming divice.
Pyro, HT, please add it now. It did have it in real life. If it can't be done, please give us the single 20mm gondola option.
-
Well not according to what HT told me himself. He said the guns were not on a movable mount. Maybe he meant that the guns on the AH Arado arent on a movable mount and not the real guns on a real Arado, but regardless, that is what he told me.

Armament:
Guns:
Two fixed MG 151 20mm cannon in rear fuselage, firing to the rear and sighted by periscope (there is some speculation that this was never fitted to production models)
It doesnt say they are remotely controlled.
-
The guns on the Ar234 are fixed mounted. Not sure what plane you're talking about Wilbuz. But one look at the mounting for those 20mm and you can see that they do not move. And there wasn't a gunner in the 234, it was a 1-man crew.
-
Ok ladies, calm down now. :D
Superfly told people in another thread that the Arado won't get its tail guns. Do you know why? He couldn't make 'em work. There was some sort of glitch in the way the periscope operated, or so he said. Until he can find and fix the mystery problem, she'll stay neutered.
PS, the guns could be trained in a 15º arc, or so I'm told. They were probably fixed though.

I have read in various books that the guns were fixed and sighted by looking through the parascope.
The periscope was also the sight for dive bombing.
In a tapped interview ( I beleave it was on the Wings of the Luftwaffe seires on the Discovery chanel) I watched an AR 234 piolet holding a perscope he had as a suvenear from his plane explane how he used it to fire the guns.
Also now that we have somthing that can intercept the AR 234 the nead for these guns is a real one and one that would be appriceated, I would imagine that it would not take to much to discurage a Me 262 from making an apoach aganst an AR 234 that could fire back, after with 200 perks on the table one tends not to be too reckless :)
Please add the 20mm guns as an option for the AR 234.
It's not like were asking for HTC to moddel the drag chute or the dive bombing sight :)
-
i think you're thinking of the me410 and its weird gun thingy. ar234 had fixedies.
as for the sight seems like a slighly modified rearview could do the trick?
-
wilbuz must be thinking 410.
-
Yup I sure am thinking of teh Me410, remembered that just after I posted the post last night, don't know why da hell I mixed it up.
I remember that Pyro said it was difficult to modell this. Can we have the version with a gondola then?
-
Gondola, like this one?

Yep. That's the nightfighter version, too. Possibly C4.
