Title: Certain head positions unsaveable
Post by: LuckyStrikes on December 10, 2009, 02:42:07 PM
Not sure if this should be in the bug forums or the tech support. I saw no threads of anyone stating this problem so I assume it is rare and thus something on my end only.

The look Up+Left+Forward (Kp:5+7) and the look Up+Back+Right (Kp:5+3) will not save in any planes. The "Head position saved" text will not display with these views, though all other positions save fine. I installed the trainer head position files, but the aforementioned views are still default. I uninstalled/reinstalled but still no dice, I suppose vista could be hiding game settings files else where. You can imagine this is a real annoyance with planes such as the F4U.

It is only 2 views in every plane, but is this a read-only issue perhaps?

Thanks in advance

I just tried it an it works fine.

Just to be clear.  On the keypad pressing 5+7, then adjust with the arrow keys, then pressing F10 does not give you a message?

The head positions are saved in one file per plane.

An easier way to do it is to map the "Look Front Up Left" command to a position on the stick, than adjust that view with the arrow keys and save it.

I fixed my problem by using the hat switch to look in the direction I wanted, then hold down K:5 to look up.  While holding those down, I'd make my adjustments, then I could save them with F10.
I'm also using Vista.

Very true.

That is correct, Skuzzy. 5+7 (and 5+3), adjusting position, then F10, do not show a message and do not save. Using the alternate joystick methods work just fine. Judging by the lack of threads on this specific topic, I assume this is a small bug affecting a very small minority. Its up to the HTC team to figure out why my computer is such an oddball. :P

I hate to be redundant, but in order to clarify: 5+7/5+3 head positions will not save in any plane or ground vehicle. All other head positions work properly.

If HTC needs any information to recreate the problem, I would be happy give any information needed.

I suppose I forgot the most important part!

Thank you Skuzzy and 100Coogn for your help.

Have you tried the alternate methods suggested?

Yes, I did. Works great.

perhaps it is your keyboard that doesn't allow those keys to depressed at one time.

That sounds very plausible considering how localized the problem is. It is a Logitech G15 keyboard. Is their any way to test it?

It's not the keyboard, unless yours is starting to die.  I've got the same keyboard and do not have a problem setting those head positions that are giving you troubles.

So the keyboard theory is in doubt. Does anyone know of a program that will show the key inputs? The windows onscreen keyboard doesnt have that functionality and when searching my keywords show links to keyloggers.

On a side note, Ack-Ack replied in my first thread on these boards and didnt eat me alive.  :)
