Title: ROCK!
Post by: Windle on October 04, 1999, 12:02:00 AM
The PTO planeset will soon be addressed with the Japanese 'George' and the F4U Corsair.  (http://www.teleport.com/~cooler/MMMM/giving/smileys/temp376/romance.gif)

Also the Italian guys will be getting their Macchi, and the Brits will get their Tempest.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

If anything, HTC is really exercising their ability to push the right buttons with the upcoming flight models <S>

Ooh... the 410A-1/U2

with 4 20mm cannon and a 50mm cannon in the bomb bay  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Can someone say 'buffer's nightmare'?

Oooohhhhhh yeah !!

Pyro I am with you.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Except I would take the x4 MG151 20mm's and the x2 MK103 30mm. Not enough ammo in the 50mm  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

The really nice thing is that the Hornisse was highly configureable for different types of combat missions, which would fit nicely with AH's hangar configuration ability.

So two weeks I assume? ;-)

Interesting Vermillion.  My copy of 'Janes Fighting Aircraft of WW2' does not list the twin 30mm cannon as a part of the 410's loadout.

410A-1  2 7.9mm mg's and 2 20mm MG151/20 cannon in the nose, with 2 13mm MG131 mg's in barbettes on the sides of the fuselage aft of the wings.  500kg bombload

410A-1/U2  Fighter conversion of the A-1.  Instead of the bomb load she carried an extra 2 MG151/20 cannon in the nose OR the 50mm BK5 cannon in the bomb bay.

410A-3  Reconnaisance version with increased range and camera equipment in the bomb bay.

Where did you get your references to the twin 30mm cannon in the 410?

I have seen numerous references to 2 x MK108 being installed in the weapons bay.  Also I have seen mention of a pair of gun pods with 1 x MK108, 1 x MK103, or 1 x MG151/20 in each pod.

My ref's show:
Me 410 A-2/U-2 was a night fighter with two MG 151 20mm and two MK 108 30mm.
Other versions: 4 MG151(!) or 2 MG 151 and 50mm w/21 rounds.
Ext pods carried two more MG 151, MK 108, or MK 103. SOme pilots fitted as many as 8 MG 151's!
Also, by 1944 many carried 210mm rockets, with a rotating pack of 6 tubes in bomb bay.
Wow! Think of the damage!

Interesting choice Pyro  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)  I'll be very excited to fly it once it gets modeled.  I'd also love to hear some other planes you'd personally like to see that haven't been mentioned yet.

Jekyll:

Try "Messerschmitt Me210/410 in Action, Squadron/Signal Publications" by George Punka ISBN: 0-89747-320-5

Its cheap, less than $10, and you can find it in most hobby shops.

I need to go back thru the book and find the designation (there is a pic of it somewhere) , but that version had the standardt x2 MG151's cannons in the nose + x2 7.9mm MG's, then it had the x2 Mk103 30mm's mounted in the bomb bay, and then had the additional x2 MG151's mounted in a gondola under the fueselage behind the bomb bay.

I believe the designation was the Me-410B2/U2/R3 , but I could be wrong.

Jane's looks to be missing quite a few of the possible variants, including the entire B and D series of 410's.

I guess you guys have already thought of the 'strafer' version of the B25 with 8 0.5in MGs in the nose?

I think I would rather see the Me-410A-1/U4. That is the "Rhino" version with a single 50mm Cannon mounted in the bomb bay (in addition to the Four MG151 and two MG17's mounted in the nose.) The 50mm Gun Stuck Way out in front of the plane, and only had 21 Rounds, but a 50mm will ruin a B-17's whole day...

The BB-6 Varient was armed with two 30mm, two 20mm, and two 13mm guns in the nose, as well as being engined with the DB 603G's (instead of the 603A's the "A" series used). The B-6 was an Anti Shipping Varient, and was equipted with the FuG 200 Hohentweil radar.

Yeah the 8-gunned nose B-25J.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

WB has the 4-.50cal nose version (B-25H) so you could 1-up them with the Air Apache's playtoy.  Including the 4 'cheek pack' guns and the 2 upper turret guns you get 14(!) forward firing .50 caliber death dealers. Pappy Gunn even added gun packs under the wings for 8 more .50 calibers. Imagine 22 machine guns at the touch of a button!!!

Of course you'd never be able to see what you were shooting at through all that tracer smoke  (http://www.thewormhole.net/UBB/wink.gif)

Hey Sleep!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I'd love to see that plane included with
load out options for that gun as well as the
other different weapons it employed.

RE:  Me410

I'd like to see it.  I applaud Pyro's intentions to include planes not seen in WB and AW.  Typhoon, maybe Tempest, the Italians, etc.  I also like using the B26 instead of B25.  Maybe have the A20 vs. the A26, too.  There were all kinda A20 variants that might work well with AH's hangar arrangement.  And how about some real eary-war or Spanish Civil War stuff?  Biplanes <G>.

...or the fighter version of the Bwitish Mosquito. 4 x .50 cal MG in the nose, with 4 x 20mm cannon underneath it. Of course, if we are going to have shootable moving ground targets like tanks, we could have the same plane with a single 57mm howitzer instead of the 4 x 20mm! (I say chaps, that would be rather wizard, eh what?)
Just dreaming, I fear.

Pyro,ya got that right...

I to would like to see the Me410.. Amazing AC. Nose could support rocket pods that where used for buff hunting . As well as the 50mm cannon with 20 rounds  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Since i cant move mud for the life of me,the 50mm would suit my stye (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
