got crap for frame rate. talking single # here for most of game play. thinking problem is processor related Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
Memory: 1272MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
got every thing set for performance on the video card.running game booster. only have 19 processes running during game play. updated all my drivers. and still have problems.if you like playing in comic book mode then it would be all chipper and roses.
thinking only way to fix this problem is with 5lb hammer and a credit card. thanks

I understand your pain. I had a pentium 4 2.8 with same vc and frames were in the 20-30 and around some bases I couldnt even fly due to ground forest and that's with everything turned off. Post your existing computer (manufacturer, etc.) maybe something can be done to make it better or upgrade just some parts etc.

Under the video button on the games kneepad/note pad make sure you have the 256 textures selected.

Yeah, I hate to say it but...you're gonna have to run 256 textures with eye candy off or buy a new system. Load that thing up with Linux, pop a large secondary drive into it and use it as a file storage system and buy a brand new gaming machine if you have the money to spare. I know this is not a great time of year to spend that much money, especially if you have a family to think about but...look in the hardware and software section, someone just priced out a nice unit for under $1000.

dont forget that your piece of junk computer could be worth something to somebody else. I sold my 5 year old puter for 300 (monitor and everything) and was able to get new system with 23 in monitor for around 700 out of pocket (deducting the 300) that plays ah with everything max. took me 4 months to get all the parts together since i could not afford to spend all the money at once but if you have more patience than money this another alternative. I combine's both old parts from old system with new parts and replaced old parts as I could afford new parts then put old puter back together and sold it.

You are both CPU and video card bound. The 8400GS is a very low end video card.
In order to exact a decent level of performance you will need to do the following:
In the games "Video Settings"
1) Set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256.
2) Set the resolutiuon to 1280x1024, or lower.
3) Make sure the anti-aliasing slider is all th way to the left.
In the game under Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced.
1) Uncheck all but "Bump Mapping" and "Detailed Water".
That should get the frame rates up to playable levels.
