It's not a stupid question...2 fairly easy ways to do a direct quote of someone on these boards...
1. While you're in the post/reply window, scroll down to the post you want to quote and click on the word "quote"...that will automatically put it in your post.
2. While you're in the post/reply window, open another tab in your web browser, then navigate to back here to the forums then find the post you want to quote then click on the "quote" button then copy/paste all of the content into your post...make sure you get the stuff in brackets otherwise the quote won't work.
Otherwise you can copy and paste the text you want to use in your quotation then manually insert [ quote ] at the beginning of the text and end with [ / quote ]...minus the spacing of course.

You don't have to open another tab.
Simply click reply.... scroll down to the previous posts that are in grey. Look in the top right corner. Click "Insert Quote" to add each one to your list.

Shuffler, you do if the text you want to quote is on another thread or if it is beyond the page viewing limit while in relpy mode.
