Title: Logitech G940 Hotas / Windows 7 rudder spiking
Post by: oboe on December 13, 2009, 11:07:59 PM: Interesting development here - my new G940 rudder pedals have terrible spiking - but when I installed and test the G940 on my laptop (not a gaming machine) there was no spiking. Laptop has Vista, my gaming machine has Windows 7. I use a powered USB on gaming rig also, and have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the G940.

Think the drivers have some compatibility problems with Win7? Anybody else using the G940 under Win 7?

As soon as I applied pressure in either direction on the rudder axis, it starts spiking wildly- I cannot hold a steady turn. This happens on the gaming rig I built and have a Windows 7 release candidate installed on. (Haven't upgraded to the pay version yet). I tried installing on my personal laptop which has Vista, and that problem doesn't occur - the axis is steady as a rock.

It doesn't seem to be a calibration issue - it finds the center OK if I release, and if I apply and hold full deflection either way, it does reach reach the top of the scale and stay there. Interestingly, same problem happens on the toe brake axes, too.

Post by: oboe on March 02, 2010, 12:57:39 AM: Just finished installing the Win 7 Pro 64-bit this weekend and still have problem with the rudder axis spiking. Found a Logitech forum and there are other posts complaining about this too.

Reinstalled the 940 divers on my laptop again just to double check, and the rudders really do not spike wildly like they do on my gaming rig.

re-opened the ticket with Logitech tech support, but honestly am not impressed with their tech support or product at this point. I cannot recommend this product. $300 boat anchor here.
