I know this seems like a stupid question but...
Why is the 163 only availible at a select airfield?
-
Balance issues. It can zoom 15,000ft, easily reach 600+ is seconds, and has dual 30mms just to name a few. Best to leave it only near the HQ for bomber busting.
-
you can though leave skid on
fly slow
refuel on route
and make it to a furbal in middle of map
just for laughs....

I still don't really understand why we have non-capturable bases... I know they help protect the HQ, but at that point, the country's pretty screwed anyway, and those bases basically shut down the fight since no-one wants to attack an invincible base.
Some of the most fun I've had in AH was having our backs against the wall, the horde attacking our 163 base, and desperately trying to hold them back with our 60 pt. fighters (that could easily turn into gliders!)...
Really, I just wish the 163 base was capturable. As it is, the most fun fighter with the best dogfights gets stuck shooting down level bombers...

I dont know why we even have the 163. You take a bunch of guys willing to put together a mission to go blow something up that matters and penalize them by allowing swarms of 163s to up.
-
Because someone like AKELFY would kick our butttt with it till we all cried.

:cry
You must have run into Tec and I, sorry about that.

Oh come on. Even if you get the HQ then it's swarms of C47s that up and it's back up within 5 minutes anyways. There's plenty of crap on these maps for people to bomb. If you don't want to get smoked by 163s don't come within a sector of HQ, pretty simple really.
Edit: lolz Grizz.

The other night there were 163's vulching a field. It was near the rocket base, but seemed strange none the less.

That shouldnt be in the game either. People can be in a furball, see a mission heading to their HQ, rtb, reup to furball again, rtb, then up a 163, kill bombers, and be back in the furballs again before any survivors, if any get 1/3 of the way home. Poor design in the game. I dont know why they cant figure out if they make a target really affect something in the game worth defending and hard requiring alot of bombers to kill it, it would provide alot of targets for the defenders without the need of magic planes.

I once made a 163 "hot pad video" where I flew a 163 from HQ all the way to fighter town and scored 2 victories before landing, by denying to drop the gear and keeping the airspeed below 400 with the gear attached. I suggest you try it! It is worth being called a cheater to have the 163s limited!

I never thought about keeping the gear. Now you have done it, many will keep the gear and rearmed when needed.

Manage your fuel right and you can get about 30min flight time on a 163, things glide forever. No idea on actual range though.

5-10 minutes of actual combat time usually.

haha ya i did that before 2

Ive made it a couple of times with gear. Hit hot pad and keep going.
163 can turn with the best of them. I out turned a Brewster in a luftberry type circle. Was a hoot. :x

I nailed a 163 in fighter town one day when he got behind my dogfighter 234...200 was great for 5 minutes afterwards.

Might be a couple o peeps that DOnt know this....hope itll help- have e6B up n maintain 982GPH as soon as u lift.
Gives u aboot same duration as la7, 21-22minutes &110-120 miles. Really dont need to firewall it unless an emergency arises :P If a short blast is needed, just be sure to get it back to 982 ASAP. Also, ya dont need to have it floored to liftoff :old: your check is in the mail FDragon  elfy

PERK THE A6M!!!
:O :huh
errrr...never mind...just got done reading some perk the ____ posts.
I've lucked out with a single 163 kill...hit it with a long range deflection shot and 5 minutes later it augered. I might have to try a refuel flight once...sounds like fun. :D
