ok......yesterday, all i hear from my customers, and parts delivery drivers, is how messed up traffic was. there was a BIG accident on RT 70, and 2 tractor-trailers flipped over on Rt 295. within 5 miles of each other.
the accident on rt 70, i read about today. it was a fatal. killed the driver, and a homeowner, who was out in his yard trimming trees.
the homeowner was a customer of mine. a newer customer, but he had spent a bit of time here.
he was a LT COL. in the 119TH Fighter Wing, based on Atlantic City International Airport. he flew F-16's in iraq. i think he was deployed at least twice.
every time the man was in here, he was upbeat, and almost always had a smile on his face.
of all the things, why do good people like this have to be taken by some amazinhunk that thinks he's a friggin race car driver in rush hour traffic?????
i want to call his wife to offer condolences, but i don't know if that would be appropriate or not.....the poor woman must be going through hell right now.
:salute :(

WELL......
i hope when my time comes, at least it's not some handsomehunk like the one that got him.
if i recall from talking to them a couple of months ago, this was going to be their first Christmas home together.........
when ne of the parts drivers told me that a car was up on the lawn of someone's house, i said "i hope the stupid %^$& didn't take anyone else with him."
-
My buddy was at the shooting range with another NJ Guard Viper pilot when he got the call. Senseless pointless and stupid. The driver got off easy and words don't do justice at this point to describe the loss.
Tailwinds, Colonel.

the driver died in the crash too. i only wish he hadn't taken the LT. Col. with him.
only knew him for a few months, and i can honestly say i've never met a more positive person.
i truly hope his wife will be ok. i'm sending her condolences tomorrow, as i'm not sure calling to do the same would be proper.........

its sort of ironic the way things happen... like in this guys case, he flies a plane into a combat zone but gets killed at his house...
or Steve Irwin being killed by a stingray during a normal swim when everyone thought it would be a croc.
sad story though... i wouldnt say it is would be improper to directly contact here. if it was me being contacted about a loved one by someone i didnt even know, that would be even more touching because its saying alot about the person who has died.

I know. He got off easy.

I know. He got off easy.
ya he did...
this just happened at the end of October where i lived some batchelor was driving with his three friends to his batchelor party going over 130mph and slammed into a truck crossing the road and never touched the brakes. it killed all for in the car and the passenger (a woman) in truck. the guy (driver) in the truck survived and has since entered rehab.
this happened around 11 at night and it is a bad intersection because its a 4 lane highway being crossed by another busy road but the other road only has stop signs.

I know. He got off easy.
yea he did. i hope to hell, that this dude is suffering un-imaginable pain in hell.
on another note, i was just looking online. there's some things about the dude that killed the Col.
apparently, he';s a customer of SLP. they're a gm hi performance company. he was driving an 06 gto. i know very well the section of road this dude was driving on. it sucks. if you're over 40mph on this section, you're at serious risk of death.
from the looks of the wreck, this guy was well over 50mph.

so i was talking to a good friend, who was also personal friends with mark(the Col. that was innocent)
they had both worked long shifts over the weekend, and mark decided to take the day off, to relax, and get some yardwork done.
poor brian, (my mp friend) was walking out the door to go to the viewing of another friends father. it turns out that the father was at pj welens in south jersey, and accidently bumped into a guy. well, this guy apparently had too much to drink, and accordingly, bigger balls than brains. he clocked the father, who then hit his head on a table. he died in the hospital. and brians friend gets to come home from iraq to find this.
it's being a baaaad week here in south jersey.

Hey Cap, leave it alone.
His wife and family are going through a rough enough time and really don't need any support other than what they are undoubtedly already getting.
If you are just an acquaintance to them it's best if you make an appearance at any memorial or service they may have and don't be too obtrusive.
I understand your feelings ...I really do...but let the family grieve.
hope I didn't come across here as negative to you. Your heart is in a good place.

nope. not negative at all. i haven't had to deal with things like this often'(thankfully), and really don't know the right things to do.....so any and all advice is appreciated.

No worries Cap, I have had to deal with this kind of thing at least a couple of times from both ends.
There really is no right answer.
Just listen to your heart and common sense I guess.
Whatever you decide you need to do will be okay, I'm certain.
take care,
