Title: New Monitor or TV
Post by: mbailey on December 16, 2009, 10:40:27 AM
Howdy all  <S>

Im looking to replace my computer monitor with something 22" to 24" and am a little stuck on what to do.

SHould i get a new monitor, or should i get a TV that i can use as a monitor. I dont need anything special, and it be residing  on the corner of my office desk. My thoughts were TV, that way i get a little more bang for the buck, but dont have any experiance in hooking up a computer to a TV, but that is of little importance.

What do you think, opinions?   TV or Monitor?

Also, any brands that anyone has had good luck with?
Thanks folks,

Mbailey

Just bought myself a Iliyama ProLite E2607WS 26' 16/10 and its pretty damn good for games and big enough to watch movies, the remanance is below 1ms and the color accuracy is very good. Belive me I've read a lot of stuff before choosing that one, depends what money you want to spend. The DELL and Apple screens are the best out there, if you're willing to pay 600euros+  :D I think the TVs are not made for fast moving graphics that require precision like aces high, but that's my opinion I didn't look at actual numbers.

note that this 26' is a 16/10, thus has a resolution of 1920*1200 (HD is 1920*1080)

Get a monitor, it can be used as a tv.  On the other hand, computer games on a tv is soooo Atari 2600.

Well I have a Magnavox  26" HDTV and hook up isn't very hard, if your graphics card has an HDMI port you can run a HDMI cable to the back of.the TV. I will post pic when I can. The graphics are not atari-ish. So  :neener:, LOL

THAT is overboard!

From what I understand, that's a 42" SONY Bravia. I'm pretty sure bigger is better .....
