Title: getting shot down
Post by: joohn6 on December 18, 2009, 08:59:29 PM
I did not know where to put this.

I just tried to do a bombing mission and my planes B24s did not get enough left and all of them crashed into a hill.  And it says I was shot down.  Why?  There was a M4 about 3K away and he didn't even fire at me.  I know this because I was in F3 view.  It there a reason for this?
Thanks

Yea if someone is near you they will get a kill that is worth nothing point wise.

Try taking off with only 25% or 50% feul in bombers, then you wont chrash.

It's always a good idea to consider and check your runway options when launching a single (or formation) of bombers.

It's called: "Looking Out the Window."

It's always a good idea to consider and check your runway options when launching a single (or formation) of bombers.

And you can do that by using the numbers (10 key area on the right hand side of your keeyboard) from the tower.  Some runways go right into a hillside.

And don't use flaps either.

Flaps shorten your takeoff roll.

And don't use flaps either.

Partial flaps create a lot of lift, full flaps create a lot of drag. :airplane:

Yeah those runways that go straight into a hill really do suck.

I never use flaps taking off in bombers. I get off the ground just fine.

I retract my flaps before I roll down the runway in bombers, but extent one/two notches as I'm taking off.

Flaps shorten your takeoff roll.

They also inhibit speed (drag) and VSI. I want speed in order to climb quickly...the flaps may get you off quicker, but you'll settle due to the drag. I'm like Cajon, never use them taking off even with fully loaded Lancs.

flaps will get you off the runway in a shorter distance, but you will pay for that quick lift off later.

i never use flaps on my take off roll. i hold the brakes as long as i can, to let the engines wind up. let the plane fly itself off the runway, and you'll be fine.

i fly lancs with 50% fuel, and a full ords load.
