Having had my sb live die (cmon, its only 12 years old, why'd it have to die on me lol......) I'm having a major issue in finding one to replace it. Part of the criteria for my new soundcard is it must have a front plate that I can plug my guitar/mixer/effects board into - which is where the snag is coming in. Locally all I can find are some cheap cards - but no frontplate, and they wont accept the lead from the frontplate to the card grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
So - recommendations please.
Sytem currently running amd athlon 64x2 dual core 4600+
4gb ram etc etc

I used this for a while;
However, those X-Fi cards are a real pain in the tail feathers to get working right in Vista/Win7, worse yet in the 64bit version.

Looked for one of those Delirium - none to be found - front plate must have jack plugs in for guitar (1/4) or mixer/effects board - bloody annoying that none of the shops round here carry a good selection (useless buggers).

TC front plate is a bit like the one in Del's post - and yep, needs to be guitar (1/4")

The one Del posted is what I am using now , along with a Line6 TonePort UBX2 ( is an older version )
here is link of newer version:
http://line6.com/podstudioux2/
I do not use the Creative software hardly at all, I use CuBase, Reason and Pro Tools and the Line6 software
I use to have in my old PC ( gave to my Daughter in Florida ) M-Audio and Audiophile PCI sound cards ( yes 2 and used them both concurrently/simultaneously )
similar but newer version of the M-Audio PCI card I had:
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/MAudio-Delta-1010-LT-PCI-Digital-Audio-System?sku=701376
and a final suggestion? have you thought of getting one of these?
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Guitar-Link-UCG102?sku=241228
I went to local music store and tested/tried these out for a Relative to get his Sons this Christmas.... they work pretty well...... ( although I had em plugged into a Laptop :-/ )
hope this helps...... Good Luck

NOTE: With the TonePort UX2 ( or older UBX2 version I have ) you really do not need anything but a good sound card....... it covers everything else....
EDIT: not sure about others, but I have had only 1 minor issue in Windows 7 , that was getting my sound in AH as clear as I had it in winXP.I did it .and have had no other problems/issues with my SB X-Fi card........YMMV......
