With reference to my last post on AH a/c performance my researches have shown that the SpitIX had a time to 20,000ft of about 6 minutes. The AH MkIX is about 30" too fast in reaching "angel twenty".
There is a post on AGW with a link to the tests done at Duxford during April 1942. The Spit was a IX, with Merlin 61, full span wings, full internal fuel, full guns ammo, radio and IFF. Well, the time to 20,000ft is exactly 6 mins.
Looks like HTC should look also into the Spit (yes, yes and the 109G-10 as well ... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)).
Check it:

"In the afternoon we again did this (strafing) and what I have dreamt of happened .... A single CR42 biplane took off and climbed up to engage me. We had a dogfight below the clouds and immediately over the aerodrome. It lasted a long time, about ten minutes. He was very good and much above the average italian. We believe he was a famous italian ace who had a crack squadron of CR42's. I'm very glad to say that he managed to bail out successfully when I finally finished him off."

Fishu,
IMHO her climb is too good. I hate to say it, I'm a LW driver ... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) And yes, a bit more elevator would be good.

Spitfire the History by Morgan & Shacklady gives a rate of climb of 5.7 minutes to 20K.

Looking better into it I saw that the data I've got are from a 1942 Merlin 61 engined Spitfire. Later models with Merlin 66 (or better) have much faster climb rates than the one I red about. Yes, 1943-44 Spits IX climbed like rockets =( OH MY!.
