Title: New Toy....

Take her out first Wednesday of the new year, should run high 4.80s in the 1/8 at 141 or 7.80s at 171 in the 1/4!

 :x

Going to be a long season, 18 races over 6 months, but should be a lot of fun. Only downside to this car is it runs gas, 112 octane at 10.50 a gallon. I was running alky at 3.25, talk about sticker shock. The motor is a 13.5 to 1, 540 cid BBC with a Sid Neil powerglide sitting behind it. Dart heads/block, Jesel belt drive/rocker arms, motor alone retails for 12k. Picked her up turnkey for 15.5 with complete spare transmission!

You have any sponsors, or do you pay for everything yourself?

it looks pretty good, But I have never been a fan of 1/4 runs, I prefer circuit racing on tight lots of twisty circuits.

but I would love to feel the accerlation in that thing  :devil

Trax1,

Everything is out of pocket, sponsors are always being sought out tho. Life long dream is being paid to race, or at least let it not cost so much.

 :D
Weekend costs me about 100 bucks once I get to the gate, rig takes 50-100 in diesel depending on the location.

Betty,

For the average fan NHRA is great, for the average racer NHRA is a big money corporation. The list of hoops we have to jump through is long and not very well thought out. Regardless of the association the racing is very real and fun to watch. For someone like me its a love hate relationship....fun to watch the racecars, not fun to deal with personally.

Its quite a rush, I pull 2-3 G's on launch, hit 100 mph in less than 2.7 seconds.

In a 1/8 mile race you launch, get the car pointed the right direction, shift and start looking over to find the other guy.

I did some NHRA street class motorcycle racing with a Kawi ZX-7R a few years back.  Ran high 9's in the quarter with street gears (13 tooth front gear and a Mickey T. Shootout tire though).  Is there a cc limit for the mini-dragsters?  I bet one of those would really take off with a Busa 1300 cc in it!   :O :rock

BTW, my cousin snagged a Wally in Topeka, KS on his Busa!

Hope ya end up with one of those on your mantel!

For those who are curious...

Had the car out tonight, ran really well even though the track was about 40 degrees with dew falling.

Best run was a 5.02 @ 139mph gliding down the track like a fresh coat of oil was put down, should have a 4.90 in her next time out.

I will get film, perhaps some on board stuff, if I can find a camera girl that will hangon long enough....

 :lol
