Title: Ping Plot Teat and My ISP reply
Post by: kamori on December 23, 2009, 04:34:21 PM
Heres my Plot...

Now I have a 10 Meg DSL connect. My ISP is slowing it down to 8meg due to noise on the line which is causing the packet loss. They believe the lines here in Kalispell, Mt are not able to handle the speed.

I dont care about the speed loss I only pay for a 1.5 meg connect anyway. The power of negotiation...LOL

Skuzzy  what is your point of view on their explanation, the change should be happening in the next few days.

Ok, this is odd.  I cannot get a traceroute to any of the IP addresses in your Ping Plot.  The first three are NAT addresses, which should not route, but the rest should route.  It dies at 63.241.193.13 for me, which is only 2 hops out.

I'll file a trouble ticket, but you need to let your ISP know as well.

Would not surprise me if they came back and claimed it is iPhone users causing the problem.  They seem to be blaming all thier network problems on the iPhone lately.

Centurytel has changed to CenturyLink. Im not sure what the changes are but Ive had a stable connect untill the last 3 weeks. That is a few weeks after the company change.

Ill call my ISP(montanasky) and start another ticket

It could be a bad route propagation.

Shouldn't they wear protection when Propagating?   Sorry I couldn't resist..

Thanks for the quick response

I have had issues with those two hops/routes as well Kam. My ping plot has massive slow down when it hits those two ".attens.net" servers. Usually fine up to that point.

Tilt, chewix, it is a return trip issue.  Always is when it is the end or next to the end of the trace.  I'll have to run a trace back your IP to see what is going on.
