Guys,
You long time K4 pilots I could really use your advice. Where do you find is the best place to set your convergence?
Thanks,
Slade :salute

If you set convergence at 300 you'll be right on the money when the range in game changes from 400 to 200 on your victims icon.
-
I set my 30mm to 500 Yards to give it a little more lift, as most of my kills are deflection shots..I find hitting planes from the rear 6 with a 30mm harder to hit
-
I like to get up close and personal, my 30mm is set at 200.
-
200-225 is where you want to be at if you're not comfortable with the ballistics of the 30mm round. At close ranges you'll find you'll have to aim under your target when the convergence is set at a long distance. That isn't intuitive for the novice and can just frustrate them.
-
I'm shooting mostly at closer ranges, but my convergence is still set at D350.
-
I have had mine set at 300 for a as long as I've been flying the K4. Just this past Thursday I set it to 400 since I've lately found that I'm connecting on a few longer range deflection shots. I haven't noticed that it's made any difference at all though. I think 300 is probably just about right.
-
300 is about right. Hey Maddafinga nice to see someone else fromTulsa on the board. :airplane:

My convergence is set at 350yds for tatering to give it a slight loft. Convergence will only play a role in the narrow misses/hits and a good tater will hit regardless of what it is set at. It's something to play with but proper aiming techniques and timing will get you a lot further than dealing with the mystique of the 'perfect convergence'.
-
225 myself...pick where you normally will fire..with your fighting style...and set it to that. I set myself up for a lot snapshots in close...therefore I set it at 225. The 50 cal planes I fly, I set at 375 or so...I shoot farther out...not nearly as many up close and personal snapshots.
Once you figure out the timing of it all...and the drop of the shell...you can adjust for other distances based on where you have your convergence at....just takes some practice.
-
As short as possible.
I prefer compensating for distance/drop the old fashioned way.

That is so nasty :P

Saw avatar the other day. The Hispanic Lady helo pilot(good-Guy) was wearing an old style F-4 anti-G suit without the hose to connect it...looks cool, but function? That chopper really pulls some G's. :x

Guys thanks for the posts!
I am testing your suggestions on BF-109K4 convergence. Woohoo!
I also played around in a BF-109f setting the machine guns to 500 and the cannons to 300. Being a turn fighter, I was thinking shooting at < 600 with the machine guns in some instances gets an opponent to turn (or burn E letting me get closer). They certainly are not going to down most planes. When I get in close I'll use the cannon.
-
The mgs are actually good for one or even two kills really, but I try to only use them for emergencies or if I just can't bring myself to abandon a guy I'm saddled up on but have no taters left. Just a week or two ago I had taken a burst of flak and it knocked out my hub cannon and one of my mgs and I managed to get a kill on the way home with just the one mg. It can be done, just try not to make a habit out of it. Try practicing offline with the mgs, they're so close together, you'd be surprised about the damage they can do really.
-
doesnt matter what its set at it will still be inaccurate to an extent. mines set to d600 but thats just personal pref just stick with a setup and practice with it.

Setting your convergence to a certain point makes them most effective at that point. So, essentially, you're making them most effective at a distance where you aren't expecting kills, but just to make your opponent turn? That means when you get in close for your kill, you're using a convergence that will handicap you...
Setting your convergence at a closer distance, 300yds, say, makes them most effective at that closer, more likely to kill distance. It does not however, make them any less effective for making your opponent turn when he's at 500-600 yds.
So, setting them at say 300yds gives you the best of both worlds, where setting them at 500 gives you the best of neither...
Also, keep in mind that if you have them set for a given distance, say 300yds again, the spread beyond 300 doesn't really get terrible until beyond double your convergence range. If your guns are mounted in the wings, 12 feet apart say, then your spread is only 12 feet at 600yds. Plenty good for making folks turn.
And if you open up at 400 or so for bombers, you're guns will continue to get more effective as you close on your target. Setting your guns at 500 makes them get less effective as you close...

Both at 225, I've tried others but I seem to be able to hit easier with 225.

P-38 flight suit?
:rofl :rofl :rofl
i set my taters at 200, i like em close......personal preference
