All I have to say is the last fso's I have been in with my beloved 39 I have been so unlucky as to not get to fly it I am praying to the gods this fso I can get lucky enough to ROCK out in a group of 39's I WILL DECIMATE YOUR PUNY 109's in my 39! BEHOLD ITS MIGHTY CANNON AND 500 lb BRICK!

As a boy of 11 or 12 the P-39 Aircobra was my first WWII model I ever built. The old Irondog has always held a special place in my heart. From what I have read, not so with those that actually flew it. ;)

That's because they were merely all jealous of the P-47 pilots...

And to think the USAA paid about the same price for P-39's back then as we would for a luxury sedan today..around $50,000 each :O

A little bit OT...
If you want to read some great books written by a real P-39 pilot, go look for 'Nanette' of 'Angels Twenty' by Ted Park.
He flew Airacobras in New Guinea during the war.
