X-52 only 2 months old and now no Y axis. I uninstalled it, reinstalled, downloaded new drivers, but nothing. Great I guess the switches are out Unbelivable.
-
X-52s seem to be hit or miss. My 1st one went bad in three weeks. This one I've had for 3 months and no trouble yet (fingers crossed :pray).
-
Get a CH Fighterstick.
-
I would gladly get a CH but I just spent the money for this one. For a hundred + dollars It shouldnt break in two months.

Within 6 months my X52 lost the trigger, 2 hats and 2 buttons on the Stick. The throttle itself went and I was forced to use the thumb slider. I finally ponied up and got tired of "adjusting for another button lost". Before the X52 I went through two X45's.
I'll never recommend Saitek.

:headscratch:
I must have gotten a 'holy stick' cause I've had mine for 4-5 yrs and not a single problem yet. Rarely do I even need to re-calibrate.
-
the only ch stick I ever owned went out the same day I opened the package. guys please stop "buy a ch" its funny. he asked for help on an x52. I have had my x52 for 2 years and still works. when it goes out (if it ever does) I'll try ch again (not).
texican are you sure your y axis is programmed to the stick? are you using the sst software by any chance?

More than likely his Pot went out on it. :aok The shoddy Quality Control of Saitek eliminates any common sense approach to their lineup.

I had this problem, with mine, or at least one of my axis was completely messed up. I took off the baseplate of the joystick (4 screws) and followed the wires from that axis to the board. I disconnected the wires from the board (just a small plastic clip, 3 wires in it if my memory serves me right), cleaned it lightly, and reconnected it. Problem was solved. It's worth a shot to take a look.

X-52, calibration problems? I've never heard of that before! <heavy sarcasm>
Sorry dude.
-
If he bought it and under warranty I wouldn't be taking it apart, take it back to where you bought it, or warranty serveice.

Same with mine, also had to tighten the screw that holds the sensor in place as it was kinda loose and causing stuttering.

i'm on my 3rd 1..... bring it back where you bought it....i took the last 1 off the shelf i told the salesmen better order more 1 little thing wrong with this i'll be back.

Same here 4 years and going strong, not one problem yet

Seriously on the CH bandwagon, the 80's look has to go before I will even touch the stuff. Had two Saiteks for four years now, both still working and only had minor problems after two years. As far as the OP, you should have a 90 day warranty regardless of purchase location. If you got it from Best Buy etc it may come with a 1 year warranty. I got the upgrade to two years for 15 bucks or so.
Exhaust those options before you take it apart and void any warranty.....

How about you do a little research on the subject first... X and Y axis on this use hall effect sensors... NOT pots.
With that being said, I had an X45 for over two years and almost two years on my X52. Not a single problem and I don't remember EVER calibrating it.
The only reason I had to replace the X45 was because I was using WD40 to lubricate it which over time made the plastic base break apart... it technically still works just tends to hang up at the end of its travel.
Now about once every 3 or 4 months I lubricate the base of my X52 with just a little bit of a 'sil-glyde'... A silicone based lubricant that is rubber and plastic safe... we use it at work to lubricate automotive brake caliper slides... it's just a little bit thinner than dielectric grease...

Throw the X-52 on Ebay and Buy a CH Fighterstick.

May I ask what part specifically you lubricate? Curious for mine.

same here - silicone grease under the metal plate where it contacts the raised plastic circle on the base (actually I apply it to the plastic), removes any stiction. B2B gave me this tip :aok

dont forget that u also need pedals if you buy a ch stick. which of course are gonna have to be saitek since their wider unless you have my sister's feet. :)

I wear 11s and the CH pedals are perfect for me...

Hey Texican, you can test the stick in control panel/game controllers. You should be able to see your stick movements in the Properties tab. If the stick is broken the Y axis won't show any response.
-
Is your Y axis working in Saitek control panel? Are you also cleaning out your registry when you uninstall the Saitek software or are you simply writing over the old drivers? Just return the thing. It has a 2 year warranty if the store you bought it from doesnt want to back it.
3+ years on mine and still going strong.
You can try this fix, type in run/"regedit". Then open.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKEY_CURRENT_USER if using Vista)
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput
And delete any folder starting with VID_06A3. Plug the controller back in, move it fully a couple of times and see if that has fixed it. When you recalibrate then windows should gebnerate another VID file.

Had my x-52 for several years and when the rudder controls(twist stick) began to spike, I added a pair of saitek pedals to it . now no problems at all on any axis
