Are the 50 cals dumbed down? Seriously...are they working the way they are supposed to? It just seems as of lately that the F4u's guns are rubber bullets. :headscratch:
There's a difference from switching from a 51 to an F4u. Anyone eles have an idea?

50 cals work great. Might be a "packet issue" on your end.

Please tell me more...re-download game?
Would that effect just one type of plane then? or any with 50's. I don't seem to have any problems in a 51. Less than 100 rounds usually does the trick, but I'm finding I'm going through hundreds with the F4u plane sets.

Might be a few things. Packet loss from ISP. It could be convergence issues, relative distance to the con or where you're shooting at on a con. I can hop in a Jug, Pony, Hellcat, etc and not have problems.
95% of the time, I'm sawing a wing off. Fuselage shots seem to act like a "sponge" for me, so I avoid them.

I was killing buffs left and right with a P-51 B tonight, that is only four 50 cals, last night I was doing the same thing in a F4U-1 in MW.
They work just fine....

There can be number of reason, but nothing to do with guns themself. Different convergence, view from cockpit, flying styles etc. Personally, I have hard time killing in any plane but F4U or F6F :joystick:

Depends if you can hit the bugger, in an F4U-1D I can saw off wings and blow up cockpits. But with a P-51 it is unstable. It really depends what your flying.

Ha! With a P-51 I can write my name on Lancasters! :D

Different gun platform, so you're probably just not used to shooting it. Change the convergence on it so as to help compensate. I'd say bring it down (since you can see a whole lot more at what you're shooting at for deflection shots than the 51. My .02
I keep my converg on the F4Us at 300 and 400 for the 51.

:huh What? You not blowing up bombers with one pass lately? My, they must have finally set all the countries the same for a change.
It's been like that for me since I started this thing when it came out. I shoot cannons and get nothing. Lil' ol p51 comes in on mine ...... ping ping boom.

Well for someone who rides a Pony almost every sortie on AH2 I do not find that surprising. Just like me when I tattoo Pony wings with the word OZZ in my Spifires 5's to 16 :D

I uninstalled and re-installed game and works beautifully now. Give it a shot.

Man i had this problem but the other way around, anything i shot at while in a F4U or F6F would explode from a short burst while all i could do in a D Pony was collect assists. Pretty much what 1pluss said is most likely the case.

I can confirm Strip's accuracy with the 50's in the MW last night first hand. :huh

i cant hit anything so i dont fly with 50's much but they do seem a bit weaker than usual

It works even better if you stick your tongue in a power supply.

I have no trouble getting shot down with 50 cal ammo...most of the time if I get away it's because the person shooting at me has his convergence off and my maneuvering doesn't allow him to empty his guns into my plane.
-
I actually had someone complain to me a couple of months back about the differences in the guns between the P51 and the F4u.
So I ran a quick series of tests between them.
Rounds required to kill Ammo bunker.
P51 F4u
301 306
305 302
304 301
There was more difference in how fast I could let off the trigger than anything else.

I appreciate everyones input. I'll try re-loading the game. I've been checking for any packet loss but I'm not getting any. Thanks again. :salute

No need to reinstall , just delete your settings folder in the AH directory. It would not be a bug that reinstalling would fix,and if you do not manually delete the settings folder, nothing will have changed.
Removing that folder will bring all settings back to default including convergence and head positions.

Not hard at all to get kills in an F4F with convergance at 450....Try that.

If dogfighting is the name of the game, I'd suggest 300-350 yards. Think about what range most of the accurate and feasible shots take place at. The ranges are not when the indicator says "600" (which means the target is between 400-599 yards away). Most of the shot are well inside the 400 yard indicator.
There are THREE things to keep in mind when debating the convergence issue with .50 cals: First, getting as many shots on target as close proximity as possible to maximize the damage. Second, the trajectory of the projectiles is a factor, setting the conv to 650 is going to lend to shooting low at 300 where most of your shooting occurs. it is easir to aim high at 600+ yards than to aim low at 400-. That is a bigger factor with the larger calibers then the .50's, but still. Third, the farther those projectiles travel the less energy they have upon impact. Praying that you hit something at 650+ yards is very different that being confident that you'll hit at 400- yards. Dont pee into the wind.

If the indicator says 600 then it's in the 600-799 range.

You sure its not 500-699? and 800 range being 700-999

The only issues from .50 cals in game stem from operator error and that's it. They are not weak, underpowered or anything else of the sort and all percieved problems with the .50s lie solely in the head of the player.
