I'd love to know more than what I've read so far....former and current team members said the James kid has a......less than desirable work ethic.
Leach brought Tech football up to the modern age and they were on the cusp of respectability. All they really needed was to recruit some really good defensive players to complement the offensive side of the ball and a good defensive coordinator to run things and they could have made some noise.
Like most other things, we only see what the powers that be choose to release. Maybe somewhere down the road the whole truth will come out.

Just stupid to fire leach, I guess its nice to have a dad that works at ESPN

They are probably trying to save a few million, plus that $800K bonus to be
paid on 12/31. There is no loyalty where money is involved.

YES!!! THE GREEN AND WHITE HAVE A CHANCE
Go Spartans!!!

That is unfortunate and will bite TT right in the butt.

Want to know what I really think (http://thesouth40.blogspot.com/2009/12/breaking-news-mike-leach-fired.html)?
Check out "the shed" and "the closet" Adam James was forced to endure. He's a pantywaist Daddy's Boy.

If the kid was a spoiled brat, why was he still on the team? Why not drop him? Why not suspend the player if he was a problem child? Whether the student was a star player, disgruntled punk or a spoiled rich boy, once he was injured it was medical not a disapline problem. No justification for putting the student(Adam James) in a dark shed because he couldn't practice due to a concussion. Sue your boss, expect to get fired.
The money saving path was to suspend Mike Leach. Have him handle the problem, admit he could have handled the situation better. Instead he dug in his heals as soon as the problem surfaced and wouldn't cooperate with anyone. Then he sued. The Unversity fired him. Now it will cost the University a new coaches contract + a payoff for Mike Leach's contract, legal costs. And a stalled football program.
Mike Leach may get all or part of the $800,000 bonus + $400,000 per year(as per current contract) + go away money. The idea the University acted to save the $800,000 bonus is rediculus.
