Yep, love that show. Really a shame that David Tennant is leaving. He's a great Doctor.

You mean Doctor Emo?

a new doctor always takes a series to get used to.

the marathon is good though....i'm seeing some episodes i've missed........
as for who plays him...christopher ekelston was good....it took me a couple of episodes to get used to dt.....
-
I only caught a couple of the episodes on the marathon, did they play the Blink episode? That has to be one of the all time best episodes in my opinion.
-
I'm a fan of the original series, (Tom Baker being my favorite Dr.) haven't seen anything from the new series.
Would ya'll recommend it to a fan of the original like me?
Are the special effects still completely campy? Cause I like that.

yes, i'd recommend it in the blink of en eye. some will get that.
i was a fan of the original, and also thought baker was the best dr.
some of the effects are still campy, some aren't. but the writing, the plots, the acting.....ALL worth it.

they did play that one...around 8 or so eastern.
i actually think that was one of the spookiest episodes. :aok

Best episode EVER! :D Especially when watched late at night when it's very very dark.

best part is they play it right off of the very same "weeping angels" we're accustomed to seeing.
that's part of what i mean about the writing.....
right now, it's the ood playing.
-
Gees, Time warp. I stopped watching after that bloke from All creatures took over. You telling me its still going? Have the Darleks come back?
-
Haven't watched it since late 60's early 70's.

daleks have been back. they invaded manhatten, they tried to splice themselves with humans, they tried to take over the earth. there were only 4 left. 3 destroyed, the last one escaped.

Watched "The Water on Mars"(?) last night....had been a fan of the old show when I was very young. Wasn't disappointed, and will start watching the series again, on demand. Had some of the same feel of the old show, with better script...lol.

AAWW DUDE....YOU HAFTA Watch from the beginning.
the doctor turned a bit bad in that episode. almost like the power he has finally went to his head.
did you see part 1 of ther "end of time" yet?
chances are good that they'll replay that tonight before they play part 2.....but the master is back, and badder than ever.
-
Seen every Doctor Who since the very first one, played by good ol' William Hartnell. IMO, the best was the 'one-series-wonder' Chris Ecclestone, who revived the moribund series with a great performance. He had the best 'assistant' too - the gorgeous Billie Piper, who also so ably aided David Tennant.
Mmmmm, Billie Piper, rrrrrrrrrr, rrrrrrrrrr . . .

Its still the Tom Baker, Tennant one two for me...
I thought Billie looked a little too skinny in the The End of Time, but no doubt she was a looker when she was a series regular...but then I thought Martha Jones wasn't exactly a hunchback!

billie piper was hot.
Freema Agyeman made her look plain.
it would've been awsome to have Michelle Ryan join in for more than one episode.
-
I watched it.I thought David Tennant was pretty dam good.I probably liked him even more than Tom Baker but that goes back some time. The scenes between Wilf "the old guy" and the Doctor were really good.
Everyone seems to have liked the episode "Blink".That one always comes to my mind as well. The chick in it was really hot! <G>

both of em were.
i watched it tonight. wilfred is good at pulling your feelings out.
even the master.....you could see in his face, that he wanted to stop, but he didn't want to stop,,,,,,like he was fighting himself inside. then in the very end, he comes through.
the next season looks kickass too.

Hot awesome was Michelle Ryan! Its a shame she wasn't a full time companion for a season just for the perv factor alone...
I dunno about the new Doctor...will have to see him in action to decide

That "Master Race" line had me cracking up.The Master is always good for a few laughs! What suprised me was at the end I almost believed the Doctor was going to make it then you heard Wilf knock four times on the door.A problem I have with the new Doctor is how young he is.I am almost forty and I hate how everyone on TV seems to be gettting younger <G> Growing older kinda sucks........................ ...

I think I read that the new guy is in his mid 20s. Seems awfully young to be playing at 900 year old time lord to me too, but time will tell I suppose. Like some of the other guys said, it may take a series to adjust to him. I can say already however, that Geronimo stuff is going to get pretty old quickly.
Those last two episodes were very good I thought. It seems like they just keep setting the bar higher and trying to force themselves to top it. I hope the excellent writing continues.
-
they did a sort of "montsge"? i guess? showing quick snipets from episodes from next season.
it looks like he'lll be dealing with the cybermen, daleks, centaruns, and others again.

I saw that. Did you notice the weeping angels here and there in that series preview montage? I'm excited about that.

yea, i did......and it looks like they may improve on it.
if ya remember though, at the end of blink, there was an angel on the roof just beyond and above the store/
-
I'll agree the new Dr. doesn't appear all that great from his 30 seconds on air BUT....
... the main pull for season 5 will be Moffat as lead writer. The guy that wrote The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Blink, Silence In The Library, Forest of the Dead, all the really, really good episodes from the last few seasons.
I'll give Matt Smith a chance, I didn't like David Tennant when he first started either.
And I'm gonna claim to be the biggest Doctor Who nerd on here as I have all series' on DVD going back to Tom Baker's first episode.
-
I am not sure about the new guy, but I have every single episode of the new Dr Who's and all the episodes containing the Daleks from the oldies.
If Tin is the biggest Dr Who nerd I reckon I could take him on Dalek info.
P.S
I am actually a subscriber to the Battles in Time magazine and Trading card game and I have almost every bit of new age merchandise - Toy Daleks, a sonic screw driver, TARDIS with noise and the novels :D
-
And on the subject of Female Eyecandy in the new series.
Billie Piper - gets a :aok
Freema Ageyman - gets a :aok
The Dr's Daughter - gets a :O
Michelle Ryan - gets a :joystick:
:D
-
The Dr's Daughter
tenant is dating her I believe, and shes the RL daughter of Peter Davidson, a former Dr ... weird huh?

really?
that is kinda interesting in a weird sorta way

Freema is a hottie for sure but can't act worth a crap. I liked it best when she died in Season 2.
Georgia Moffet is also a hottie but loses points for having Sandra Dickinson for a mother. That voice is gonna make you homicidal during Sunday Roasts around the in-laws!
-
Ah yes, Sandra Dickinson - she who played Trillion in the BBC TV version of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy'. Preferred the original radio show myself, which was just pipped at the post as Best Science-Fiction Production Of The Year at the International Sci-Fi Conference by the first 'Superman' movie; Christopher Reeve was cheered by all when he said in his acceptance speech that he wasn't sure he'd won the popular vote.
My word, this thread is turning into a cosmic time-trip . . .

All that needs to happen is the silly light bulb in the basement burn out. Geesh. Wasn't like they were going to be looking at each other forever.

aaaaaahhh,....yes, but wait!!
remember? the TARDIS's security system returned it to the doctor when sally tried to activate it, leaving her, and her friend standing in the middle of the angels.
the problem here? whelp.....since the tardis went, and the doctor was able to come back to now, and sally gave him the script, all of that episode never really happened. hence the weeping angel behind the store.
so in rescuing the doctor, and trapping the angels, in reality, she also freed the angels.
eehhggg....now my head hurts. :rofl :bolt:

Where do you get "all of that episode never happened?"
She gave the script to the doctor, which allowed him to read it at a later time and put his part of the script into the videos that she then watched. Remember, that is how he could "talk" to her through the video, because he had a script of everything that was said that the boyfriend wrote down. Even that part was in the script. So, actually, giving him the script was what made the whole episode possible, not the other way around.
Don't over-complicate it. When the TARDIS disappeared, the four angels were all looking at each other. But they were in the basement where a single bulb was illuminating them, making them see each other.
Bulb burns out, they are back in darkness and free to cover their faces. Quite simple.

but see, sir, he didn't read the script at a later time, but rather an earlier time. i think it was 1969 he was trapped in?

I watched both parts last night. Liked parts of them, disliked others.
I don't think the new doctor is going to be very good either. In the 2 minutes he was on at the end, he over-acted every moment of the scene. Perhaps I'm wrong.... at least I hope.

over-acting is cheesy...and cheesy is part of dr. who.
as for the new guy......i think he needs a little time to "settle" in.
kinda like in the beginning of star trek next generation......picard was moving like a puppet with a stick up it's arse for the first few episodes...then he settled in.

It was "earlier" in her personal time line, but later in his. She had already been through the ordeal, but he hadn't yet. Some time after receiving the script, in the Doctor's personal time line, he got trapped in 1969. He then read the script he had been handed into the videos, knowing that in doing so, the events would be placed in motion that would lead to the woman sending the TARDIS back to him many years later.
It really isn't that complicated. :neener:

Um....that’s Sir Picard was moving like a puppet with a stick up its arse.
Patrick Stewart was just knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. The 'Kirk or Picard' dilemma just got more interesting.
BTW, love Dr Who. I didn't like David Tennant at first either but now am sad to see him go. Hope the new guy can pull it off.
