Just wanting to know, what is the best spot to hit a plane to cause the most damage? Alot of times I hit the fuselage just to find out it didnt do much damage. What is all of your opinions on the "sweet spot" to down someone fast?

pilot

stabilizers:
relatively weak
critical component
easily targeted from all angles except a head on
if you have a crossing shot you can rake the plane from tip to tail and go for the pilot kill, but if most of your shots are from a rear aspect then the tail of the plane would be the best target. especially if the plane has decent cockpit armor.
any spot you can put a good stream of bullets on will down the plane though. if you're peppering the plane with bullets and its not going down then you need to get in closer(this will solve a lot of aiming issues), change your convergence, or get a bigger gun.

get a bigger gun.
Theres your answer, use tator birds :aok :salute

I like to remove the ailerons then play with my food. :D
Seriously... pilot.

190s can still roll pretty good with a missing aileron lol. Just harder to control the stalls...

When I'm down to MG only in a Ki84 I find myself shooting off the rudder and stabaliser of the con.

Aim for the outer wings. It is possible to still fly without one, but it is hard to do, especially if nose down. Aim for the outer wing that is to the side that the plane rolls to with torque. Hard to use elevators in a plane that keeps snaprolling on you.

:rofl :rofl
don't listen to anyone in here EXCEPT the ones who told you to go for PILOT.
That is THE best target to go for Plain and simple, you hit they explode, you miss still could hit the plane, the point is to make the red guy go BOOM, with the amount of Hording going on, you want to kill as fast as possible, AIM for pilot.

Well most vulnerable part is the pilot, go for there if you can.
Past that, fuel tanks will kill if you light them up, engine, and if you get even part of his wing, he becomes much easier to kill.

B-17's = top of fuselage just behind the cockpit. Always seems to be an OSOK to me
B-24's = Engine, spit on them and the burst into flames
B-26's = come up from underneath aim for the tail
Lancs = Come up from below, aim for wings
Use this if you can't line up for a pilot shot.

on enemy fighters I am for the pilots head if i'm feeling generous a quick painless death. Otherwise I like shooting the enemies tail off, The rear stab is a small but weak target on most fighters. I like watching people having a nice trip all the way down. :D

I always aim for the pilot, unless @ a dead 6, then i go for the tail on most planes, wing on spits.
-
Cockpit, wing root and tail sections are spots to aim for it you're trying for a critical hit.

I was duelling someone the other day. I had a P47 and he had a Yak. After merge I tried aiming for the pilot with a quick 20rounds burst. All bullet hits landed on the engine. I was surprised not to see any smoke or my opponent to give up due to Pilot wound. Then he tells me to kills him because i rendered ALL his guns useless :lol. If I had to aim for something, it will always be the frontal half of the plane. If I miss, its going to be the wings anyway. :aok

lol lepape. Too funny. I rememer this one time when I was in an intense fight with this 190A5, and I was in a spit8. After spraying him with the .303's since I accidently had my DT selected, I got ganged, and after using all me E, the 190 slides onto my tail, and doesn't fire. I bet that emptying my 303's at him destroyed his guns. Thanks for helping me figure that out, was driving me nuts :aok.

Never try to "rake" a plane. Always attempt concentrate your shot on the pilot. This way, even if you miss the pilot and hit a wing root or fuselage, you stand a good chance of causing critical damage. A "raked" shot will often leave a target with no damage. Always.. always concentrate your shot.

To me it's a process. In end as Steve stated its all in targeting the cockpit. Even if you don't get a solid hit you'll get the wingroot or even the tail. However the simple reality is most people pull to little lead and don't hit anything at all. So start by aiming for the spinner hub...or even trying to miss in front of the plane (especially with the spud launcher). Then as you start to consistently land engine hits you can move back....

There's a specific spot to try to hit?
Fro christ sakes no one told me that!!!!!
