Title: b25h
Post by: warphoenix on January 04, 2010, 12:29:58 AM
does any one have an idea about what to do with the b 25h's HE gun( or cannon)?

In a word....kill!

There isn't a plane or vehicle that cannot be killed in one shot by the 75mm gun.

It can takeout three hangers in combination with the 3,000 lbs of ordnance.

You can de-ack a large field alone and still have enough to vulch.

You can snipe bombers from 1.0 to 2.0 out if you happen to get in position behind them.

Its one bad ride if you have clear skies!

what the bloody hell do you think you do with it?   :headscratch:

play tiddlywinks?  marvel at the size of the round NO!

You can kill any fighter plane with one hit!!  preferably if they are stupid enough to attack you head on put it in their skull...

You can bust most tanks with it.  You can kill Vehicle hangars with what 9 rounds?   2 maybe 3 passes???

Ord down under CV attack?   can kill the cruiser fairly easy the CV will die too with enough suicidal attacks.   :pray no-one is in the 5 inch...

De-ack?   you can snipe ack guns from 3k away as if it is a flying tank.  You can even VULCH people!!  1 round KABLOOM!!!

I can go on with things you can do with this gun but I think you should by now get the idea..... :aok

and yea what strip said  also :D  i should read the rest of the thread before going off on one

Also don't be afraid to dogfight with the B25H.  You'll be very surprised how well you can do, use stalls to increase your roll-rate, and take any deflection shot with the 50cals you think you have a chance at.  I often try to cut inside my opponent's turn (using the vertical if possible/necessary), and then pulling off a deflection shot.  If you get your 50cals on target, you've got a very good chance at taking off his wing.

P.S. Causing overshoots is quite effective with this plane!

All you people with those fancy-smancy sights are just dweebs! :P
Been using a simple ol sight, looks like:  - -              Default sight is all screwy, had to change.
I learned it on the default sight, never got little "ranges" that would only throw me off...I've almost memorized where ranges are for my speed/angle/alt.  So in short, those sights aren't needed, just need to practice...well you need to either way. :D

B25 is my ride of choice when ord is dead and GVs are IB w/no air cover...can get more kills out of 1 run than I can an IL2.

As for the OP's question...you just look at the 75mm.

No, really. :noid

I still wish we had the 6-7 AP rounds the B-25H actually carried in its ordinance load.

Oh, the WHINES of the tankers when they get poppoed from 3k out.

Yeah, I seem to recall being highly frustrated by you in the past :P

Luckily, many people don't fight like you, and think 'Oooh look there, B-25 - I want! easy kill!!!1'  and promptly get all ham-fisted and waste half their ammo and speed on me.  That's when I try an overshoot.

The B-25H is the only plane I'll do it in, I will try and force a head on engagement so the other guy can feel the full force of 8x .50 cals and a 75mm cannon.  It's amazing how quickly a B-25H will make the other guy's plane disintergrate on a head on attack.

Oh yeah!
Love flying it as the Command and Control style aircraft for GV battles. Normally I don't like being bothered by cons but when I do, either we both go down in a Ho or I take some damage to engines. Either or he never wins!

I fly the B25h A LOT  :joystick: and get killed A LOT bu I'm usually going after carriers or bomb tarding but with the gunners seats you can defend yourself easily from planes especially if you have a friend in the gunners seat  :devil but that won't do much good against 5 inchers  :cry.

Yup... my favorite attack ride.  Can bust ships, hangars, ground vehicles, and does very well dogfighting.  Great de-acker... and occasionally I will get lucky enough to fall in behind a bomber formation with it.  I have seen the 75mm take out 2 buffs with one shot.  Not sure how, but it did.

You can usually take out a soft gun or auto ack before it even has a chance to get a good shot off at you... usually.

Bombing can be tricky though... have to pay close attention to your dive angle.  To shallow, and you have to release after the target passes under the nose and out of view.  To steep... well, lets just say the wings dont hold up well in too steep a dive angle.

And GhostH did all the real work on the sight and ranging... I just did some research with ranging in the MA and made it look sexy :)

Not really. Its big and not very maneuverable. What do you want out of a bomber?

All planes have their weaknesses, for example the B-25H isn't very maneuverable so it's really not that smart to try and dog fight it.  The rear gunner position is also very easy to take out, if you're being attacked from the dead six position, it is very important that you shoot the attacker down as quickly as you can before he gets in too close or he'll take out the rear turret.

It also doesn't have a bomb sight, so you really have to know where to aim for bomb drops.  Also, since the elevators and/or wings will rip off if you try and pull more than 3Gs in a fast dive, it's best to use shallow dive bombing techniques if you plan on using it as a bomber.  Even though its got waist guns, visibility is rather limited in these areas, best to use the top turret to engage bandits attacking from the port or starboard side.

Yeah...keep it under 250miles per hour in general.  I probably won't pull all the way back on the stick at much more than 200mph, but flying around at 250 allows you a decent number of options if you see an enemy plane etc.  It's faster to do a snap spin (stick all the way back + full aileron) and roll inverted into a dive than it is to just nose down as you might in a fighter.  And on the topic of spins, they're VERY handy in the B-25.  You can easily cause planes to overshoot by doing that (but it is very risky), and you can also descend at about 15000feet/minute at a constant speed of ~150mph if you stay in the spin.

Oh and be careful of GVs - if you approach from the wrong direction and at too shallow an angle, tanks can quite easily hit you with their main gun.  Also, Wirblewinds and Ostis are horrible...making a guns run on one if he's already seen you and has half-decent aim is not a recipe for success.  M3s, M16s and Jeeps are unbelievably vulnerable to your 75mm.
