Title: LANCASTER TACTICS
Post by: SELECTOR on June 15, 2001, 09:29:00 AM
This is a tactic ive read about which was preformed by the Pathfinder Squadron.
What they did to great effect was to allow aircraft fitted with Shrage Musik ( gun set at 60deg up pointing)to almost get into position, then at the last moment cut engine power and add 10 deg of flap,in alanc this slowed them real fast causing the me110 to over shoot, then the pilot would dive slightly usually smashing the fighters tail.
This was all co-ordinated from a window fitted to Pathfinder Squadrons planes just behind the bomb bay.
If anybody else has any unusual tactics they use or have heared about let me know.
Im gonna try this tactic but i dont think it will work in aces high  :)

Sounds iffy as a real world tactic at best.

You're talking about diving on the me110 after he overshoots and in all intents and purposes - ramming it - have you forgotten that the 110 has a rear gunner?

Wasn't the reargun removed to make way for the radarstuff?
I mean, this guy in the back was now some sort of wizzo (weapon system operator)?

See ya,

Ramming an airplane that just overshot you due to excessive speed. Yep there is definately something wrong with this picture.

If the ME was going faster so it would overshoot. just how would that big heavy (and ugly) Lancaster suddenly speed up enough to ram the faster airplane after just dumping speed. This makes the E retention claims of the N1k1 sound reasonable.

Second issue. You are going to ram and break off the metal end of another airplane with the glass nose of yours????

I just GOTTA see this!!!!   :p
