Like the topic states -- just a channel 200 w/o politcal debate and discussion.
I like keeping 200 tuned to hear some of the funny comments and banter between people, so de-tuning it would take away some of my fun. I don't care to log on for political discussion about gun rights, Obama's job performance, if Avatar is anti-military, etc.
Or better yet, add political topics and words to the bad word filter. :lol
That's my wish for the game. :)

I discovered last night if you squelch three or four people, the particular discussion you don't want to hear goes away.
wrongway

Which goes back to the perma squelch thingy.
Unfortunately you have to waste *your* time squelching the same old people every
time you go online. Because with channel 200 you are held hostage to their blather
and have only a choice of manually turning their crap off by squelching them or
de-tuning 200.
Again. YOU are forced to make efforts and take action in the online part of a game
to make your use of the service you pay to enjoy more tolerable. Which is strange
as those same type of discussions and social behavior is strictly prohibited in the
forums for the game. Which btw has a nice, working perma squelch feature!
I heard about it's potential effect on new users who get old handles that were
perma-squelched. I still feel that a solution to automatically clearing squelch lists
when a new subscriber gets an old handles couldn't have been found and created
during the last ten years.

or
de-tuning 200.
The best bet! :aok
-
Detuning 200 puts a damper in online comeraderie and is anti-community.
-
Just wish people would stop being sweetheartrs that way we don't have a problem. But then 95% off the talk on 200 would disappear.
-
If 200 is getting too much I just try to hijack and derail and it soon gets back to entertaining.
-
One night there was a bad political discussion going on and I could not help but hijack it with the 80th.
A good ole Pirates vs Ninjas discussion usually overpowers the political spectrum, had all kinds of people join in for it :aok

Pirate vs Ninja, now that would be a cool fight....
A ninja has stealth, but a pirate has a peg leg... I guess its up to the parrot, if the pirate's got the parrot... the ninja is dooomed!

What if the either the Ninja has a peg leg?
Or what if the parrot has one too??
What if the parrot is a tiny Mensa?!
Oy...

<snip> de-tuning it would take away some of my fun <snip>
Otherwise, yeah, de-tuning would work.

Fly rook and you get to hear political opinions on country channel, which cannot be detuned. It's so bad you fill up your squelch list and there's nothing more you can do.
-
better yet, add a 3 country channel that is a political cagematch / flamefest channel and banish all such talk to it
-
Maybe political talk on range, country, or 200 should be a mute-able offence. :pray
-
"you fill up your squelch list and there's nothing more you can do."
Yup. And the next time you logon you have to squelch them again, and again, and again
while the people doing it have free run. Mots often it's the same old people to boot.
"Maybe political talk on range, country, or 200 should be a mute-able offence."
Amen to that! It *is* that way on the forums. It would seem to me that it would be simpler
to just provide a perma-squelch feuture rather than having to have the airwaves baby-sat
by an auto-filter that can't prevent circumvention or a live body. Then again what if the live
body wasn't objective?
-
Everything that goes into 200 should be automatically translated by the game and posted in German.
-
It would be nice if Hitech or Pyro or Scuzzy were to state on the board "The main arena is no place for political discussions." No mute, no ban, no consequences- just that they would prefer it be minimized. Then, when a political argument gets out of hand, someone can say "You know HTC has said the MA is no place for political discussions" and I bet most people would stop because they respect the HTC guys. I truly believe this would be in HTC's interest as the political arguments, no matter what side you are on, are offputting and can adversely affect enjoyment of the game.

Has happened before, even by means of an arena message, also I have seen this
proclaimed by a HTC employee on CH200. Works only for a short time, because...

...is just wishful thinking.

Political discussions are not part of the game environment and are not welcome there. It would ba valid use of the .report facility.
Generally speaking, discussions of topics which have nothing to do with the game, could be a reason to use the .report facility.
People insisting on having non-game related discussions are free to tune to a non-public channel and talk about whatever they want, as long as they want.
