Actually the film gets it wrong, as the series probably will... the real Spartacus actually fought his way all the way to Transalpine Gaul, where he and his army were pretty much free to go wherever they wanted... but what would Spartacus be then?  Glory and fame were too seductive to give up I presume, so they turned back into Italy to plunder the countryside again, and that's when they were surrounded and lost.  Wouldn't had made for such a good flick telling that story.

A slave becomes a gladiator. A gladiator becomes a general and defies an emperor. (que Hans Zimmer music).

" ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED."  hehe.  HBO had a good roman series last few years ago.  Yeah I'm gonna give this show a look.

I didn't know they made it to Gaul (France).  I thought they got cornered at the tip of Italy, the toe near Sicily?

You need to watch it again so you can get it right.

A general who becomes a slave. A slave that becomes a gladiator. A gladiator that defies an Emperor.

Yeah thats Gladiator. Seen it a million times not  the same story. gezz

And INK I don't think Spartacus was a general!

Read he was Roman soldier deserter turned gladiator.  Isn't it myth that his body wasn't found at the last battle?

I don't think he was an offical 'Roman' General (Praetor).

Could he be considered a general of his gladiator army?
