I think that, when the producers of Aces High called the office and said that they wanted an A-26, the janitor on the other end of the line accidentally wrote B-26 on the message pad. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) It's an honest mistake!
But, now it's time to bring out the mother of all medium bombers: the A-26 Invader. Oh, baby. I salivate at the thought of cruising the skies in that yellow-striped beast of a plane. 8 pilot-controlled MG's in the nose. Huge payload for a plane of its size. Once she's empty, she turns quite well.
What do ya say, HTC? I understand that, during WW2, the rejects from fighter training often opted to fly the Invader because it was pretty much "the next best thing".
Where's my Vader? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Don't forget the mod with 14 MGs.
Well, if 1.04 is gonna have ships, yer gonna need something capable of some serious anti-ship work. What better than 12 rox and 8 bombs, plus a whole lotta .50s?

Mother of all medium bombers-----> Ju88
MOther of all allied medium bombers---->A20
A26 was nothing but a develop of A20...no biggie here, I also think that the invader has a place here in AH (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Dinger, the 14 forward firing MG's was not a mod, that was STANDARD for the A-26B. 8 in the nose and 3 in each wing (see photos below).
The Bravo could also carry 14 5" rockets plus the standard 8 x 500 lb internal bombload.
Don't forget a pair of twin-.50 defensive turrets. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
This plane would be a great addition. There was not a more lethal ground attack aircraft fielded during the war. And with its water/methanol-injected engines it had low-altitude performance only slightly less than most fighters.
A quick and easy variant would be the A-26C, which replaces the 8 nose guns with a glass nose and a Norden bombsight.

Note - The pictured plane has a pair of pylons outboard of the engines, reducing the rocket armament to 8. Drop tanks are carried in these photos, but 500 lb bombs could also be carried.

Over in AW, a good A26 pilot can dogfight Pony's and 190's once he's dropped his load. Its a frightening sight.

A-26 Invader? I don't want that blighter! Give me a real plane - the Bristol Beaufighter!
So you want to sink ships? This is the plane for you!
Its got guns! Four 20mm cannon and six .303 machineguns, or four .50 machineguns on the Aussie version.
Its got rockets! Eight 25lb AP solid warhead rocket projectiles.
Its got a torpedo! Or two 500lb bombs.
Its got a cool nickname! Whispering Death.
Its not ANOTHER American bomber!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Oh,god...I know I'm gonna be courtmartialed by my fellow JG-2 Squaddies (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) but...
Bring the Mosquito. With only few changes in it you have
a)a fast bomber (FAST!! indeed)
b)a fast heavy fighter-bomber
c)a fast naval attack plane (Tse-Tse).
And if somehow night comes to AH, then you have ,too:
d)a fast and powerful night fighter.
Anyway ,Mosquito is a must be in this simulator...as it is Ju88, too...or better still Ju188 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)...and don't forget about Me110 or Me410!!!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
BEaufighter is a good plane, but mosquitoes are much better, and versatile.
I agree with you we need more attack planes, soon!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

mosquito has my vote.
I'd also like to see the a20 havoc 1 day, its never been modelled in a sim.
but the mosquito is unique in its great speed and lack of defense other than speed.
-
Mossie has been done in WB! Bring on the A20 or Beaufighter. SOmething different is better.
Gorf
-
I'm with Juzz. A Beaufighter!!!
Used in the whole war and in all theatres. Not just the sumer of 1944 and on.
-Westy
-
Yes bring on the Beaufighter - the RAF really needs another 1940 plane in AH. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
The A-26 must have been a great plane. It was still in use all the way up until the mid 60s.
In here it would unstoppable. I would love to see it. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

LOL Indian! Can you imagine how cool all those tracers would look?
It must have been a pain in the bellybutton to supply and arm each of those planes before a mission!

Guys, guys, guys...
All our suggestions are excellent, as far as I'm concerned. I gotta say, though, that no WW2 sim is complete until it has the A-26 in its hangar. But, now that I think about it ... we all oughta have our med. bomber of choice.
If this game grows the way it sounds like it is, there will be plenty of room for all our planes. Just leave my vader closest to the taxiway. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Vermillion,
Actually a good 26 driver can kill anything in AW. I've got clips of 5 or 6 5+ kill missions (all air to air) in AW..I sent a couple to the 327th website (my AW squad)..one was a co-alt/e win vs a good 38 driver. I do think that theflight modeling in AW much different than it would be here.
In AW you fly the vader exactly like a 38, only real differance is you rip the wings instead of blacking out...since the 38 is so different here...i have to believe the vader would be also.
But it is a blast to fly and would make a great addition here.

14 guns eh?
Hah, I'll do a HO with my 109G10 ANY day.
And die.
