The BIG plus is they don't have everyone flying the same planes like in Fly Boys. Still can't beleive I wasted my money on that one.

Did you watch the megavideo one. That is the only one I will watch all the other versions suck. The thing with megavideo is that after 72 min u have to wait about 40 to finish sometimes the other versions are as good as megavideo's though. Just have to search through them which could be a pain.

That's what I'm trying to figure out, or perhaps I'll get some cheap DVD player. Really want to see that movie. Also I'm still looking for places in the US where I can order it and watch it on what I currently have.
I don't really want to buy a $12 movie, then pay for the shipping across the atlantic, and then but a DVD player just for ONE movie :furious, good thing I did not order it yet ;)
As for the computer; someone told me that you can switch it only 3 times or so, but don't quote me on this.

Just found that my brother has a DVD player that will be able to play it. I'll let you guys know how good the movie is when it arrives (in ~9 days).

Tango, thanks again for posting.

They overdid the roll-rates again.

U.S. DVD release date:  June, 2010.

I thought it was a good movie although it got a bit preachy at times.

I'm looking forward to the release, it will be interesting.

I've been reading up on the Red Baron, not actually him but those that he is claimed to kill. It is a bit morbid, but it is very interesting none the less.

Ahhh man, they speak with British accents?  Why?  Why is it that in films where Germans speak English, they have British accents?...Except for Tom Cruise of course. :joystick:

Well in the trailer, they seem to have Germanic accents. But there's a certain logic, English and German are related languages. Indeed the English are somewhat related in terms of ancestry. In fact their entire Royal family is essentially German. To have them speak with American or indeed Scottish, Irish, Australian accents wouldn't make sense. it's a good artistice get out.

Same reason for the Russians having British accents in Enemy at the Gates? ;)

I think a British accent is movie code for "non-threatening, friendly foreigner."  The only time I heard a German accent in Valkyrie was from Cruise's antagonists.  Can you imagine a movie where Hitler speaks with a British accent? :lol

Agree upon the roll-rates as well as the worries about overdoing the CG.
Did anyone see "Aces High" by the way???

I sure hope it's historically accurate.  Most films since the 20's have been horribly inacurate about Manfred von Richthofen.

How about fighting SE5s before he painted his Albatros red?

Amazes how many people want everything historically accurate to a T in a full production movie.  I'd recommend picking apart a History Channel documentary for more giggles.  I don't watch a war/historical and judge it entirely on historical accuracy, a paint job wrong for the plane or period, I'm much more worried about the acting and plot to judge overall story telling.  God forbid I hear someone cry about 300 again.  If you want to "learn" about history, I hope we all know the true sources of this.

That aside, the visuals were quite well done, an obvious overall strength.  Though the movie suffered from screenplay issues, it was enjoyable.  Matthias Schweighöfer I thought did a fine job, he was hindered by some poor lines IMO.  I'd give it a B-/B.  Probably wouldn't watch it again.

Thanks for the link. This ol' cat has a great interest in, and some knowledge of, the strut-and-wire aeroplanes that ruled the skies when Pontius was a pilot. I will now pop over to eBay or Amazon and buy the DVD from whichever's cheaper.

The thought occurs that we'll have great fun submitting those colourful German Air Service skins to HT when AH WWI finally gets started. Me, I won't be so colourful, being a Royal Flying Corps type.

Cheers!
