Title: .speed
Post by: AKHog on January 18, 2010, 05:41:31 PM
How 'bout a .speed command that returns the speed to default, like ".speed default".

And while we are at it, I would LOVE to have ".speed Vx" and ".speed Vy".

Thanks.

well I'm not sure about the 1st part, I think it's easier to type .speed 160 or what ever than .speed default. But the 2nd part I agree on  :aok

I thought you could just reset the auto climb (alt x) and it reset the speed thing...

New sortie resets, or if your an old wise hand you pull up your E6b before you change it so you can change it back.

i have a list of all the default speeds on my fuel chart.. would be easier to just .speed 0  or somethin to reset it like you suggest..

I like this idea. Since different planes have different default .speed settings (as optimized for climb), when I manually change my .speed and then change it back to a rough estimate for climb, I'm always left wondering if I'm maybe off a little bit. Who knows, that could ultimately be the difference in a fight. Having a simple way to change it back to an adjusted optimized default for each plane would be a big plus.

For the most part, the default Alt-X is Vy.  A couple of mph above or below the ideal won't have a huge impact.  Just remember what the default was before you typed in the new speed and then you'll be able to type it in.

Of course, since pitch controls speed anyway, why not just shift-x for auto-angle, then use pitch trim to match your desired speed?  Then, alt-x remains set on the default...
