Title: New Monitor and Graphics Card
Post by: TwinTail on January 20, 2010, 02:11:45 PM
Looking into buying a new 23" monitor by LG.

At this time what would be the Best Graphics card on the market currently that can run aces high at full settings with shaders etc at 60 fps or above?

Also in the future looking into a new flight stick. The Logitech Flight System G940 and the Saitek X65 are both dual throttled sticks which is what i would need, I am currently using a Saitek X52 Flight Control system minus the pedals.

Any Advice?

^ Yup, thats your top of the line...but it's also one of the top prices.

The 5770 will run all the crap at 60fps.

LOL...true but then so will some other cards at 1/2 the price of the 5870...personally I'd run the 4870 or GT-250.

hmm?  why not go with a 5850 verses a 5770?

I would always recommend going with the 3800 series over the 3400 series, or  4800 series over the 4600 or  the 5800 series over the 5700 series..

just saying  ?800 series is a step up over the ?5/6/700 series

and anything under the 5800 series go with 512 meg versions instead of 1 gig versions...... they seem to perform better ( check the numbers / reviews )

(except the 4890 1 gig version )

best bet is to do the comparisons yourself.... even though people will post some good ideas....suggestions.

He didn't post a cost so I figured I'd show him a card that will run it great for a lower price...

The Logitech Flight System G940 and the Saitek X65 are both dual throttled sticks.

Keep in mind that the G940 is a force-feedback stick (I haven't used one yet myself, but people either hate it or swear by it... there's not much in-between).

The X65 is a new kind of stick that does not move.. instead it measures how much force you're pushing (or pulling) on it.  Again, I haven't used anything like that yet, but it seems like it would be pretty neat... no moving parts to fail (at least on the stick's Axis... what is the plural form of "Axis" anyhow?)...

Just keep in mind that both sticks are substantially different from the X52.  I'm hoping Saitek comes out with something that does move, but a newer version of the X52... perhaps an X62 or the like... and of course, at a cheaper price

Axes is the plural of Axis.

If Saitek were to come out with a new Joystick, I would prefer it use less power and be a bit more programmer-friendly.

I got a 5870 and love it, only problems I've had are driver issues, not bad, but in some games it can be annoying.

Axes is the plural of Axis.
And that would be pronounced "ax-eez".

I haven't been able to get my GTS250 to stabilize at 512 textures let alone maxed out.
