Why no F4U-4s? She was in service by this point of the war.

FSOs and other SEA events are not designed that way. A given theater and time period does not "guarantee" every a/c that might have flown there be included in the OOBs. It was a design decision based on this particular setup. Example, a NWE 1945 setup does not always have RAF a/c, maybe they just have USAAF, or perhaps the Me 262 isnt included, or maybe the B-17 is but the B-26 is not. Its never an exhaustive list.

I was just curious. Because I've seen 262s a couple times, and even 163s (flown both once, at that) in the 2-3 years my squad has participated, but not one setup has used the -4.

I wanted it in, but it was a case of also wanting the USAAF a/c included, which meant P-47Ns or P-51Ds (the only two land based fighters that could reach Japan) vs the IJ set which is a bit of a handfull. I did include the F4U-1C, but thought the F4U-4 was a just a bit too much. Next time I will try and work it in, perhaps an "all navy" setup or something. This is the debut of the P-47N in FSO, which to date has seen no action in our events.

This is where B-29 is needed.  Good match up but why no P-51 and/or P-38?

We did have the P-47N in Arado Ar234 "Blitz" event.  But you are right, not all AC can be used to fit in.

The P-38 did not fly fighter sorties over Japan as the USAAF FGs were all using P-47Ns or P-51Ds. Recon P-38s (F-5s) were used but were unarmed recon varients.

The P-51 answer is the same as the F4U-4 answer above.

Dunno about the B-29, I mean if we had it, I can only imagine the difficulties of the IJ plane set trying to deal with B-29s. Maybe with formations off? In any case at this point its academic as we dont have it.

I did not know about the P-38 over Japan.  Thx

As far as the F4U-4, I am guessing they had small number in the first place and where more for defensive position for ship to pick off kamikazes.

Nice looking setup. Gonna have to see if I can schedule a couple of nights in there.
