Title: WHO DAT
Post by: Frodo on January 25, 2010, 12:01:30 AM
Good for football and great for New Orleans.

Here is a little something I pulled from another bbs.  :devil

A Cajun who died went to hell. The devil assigned him the usual punishment...put him in the mass pit where the heat was melting others. The devil came back sometime later surprised to find the Cajun just sitting around, not even misting, much less sweating. "How come you're not so much as sweating here where eveyone else is screaming for relief from the heat?" The Cajun laughed and said, "Man, I was raised in the bayous of Sout Looziana. Dis ain't nothin' but May in Morgan City to me!"

The devil decided to really put the Cajun through it. He put him in a sealed off cave in the pit with open blazes and four extra furnaces blasting. When he came back, days later, the Cajun was sitting pretty, had barely begun to bead up with sweat. The devil was outraged. "How is this possible!? You should be melted to a shrieking puddle in these conditions!." The Cajun laughed even harder than before. "Hey, man! I done tole you. I was raised in Sout Looziana. You tink dis is heat?! Dis ain't nothin' but August in Cow Island !"

So the devil thought, 'Alright, a little reverse ought to do the trick.' He put the Cajun into a corner of hell where no heat ever reached. It was freezing and to add to the Cajun's misery, he added massive icebergs and blasting frozen air. When he returned, the Cajun was shivering, ice hung from every part of him but he was grinning like it was Christmas. Exasperated, the devil asked "HOW!? How is it possible?! You're impervious to heat and here you sit in conditions you can't be used to...freezing cold and yet you're happier than if you were in heaven. WHY?!"

The Cajun kept grinning and asked, "Don't dis mean de Saints won da Super Bowl?"

Who Dat goin to da Super Bowl.

Reminds me of an old Justin Wilson joke... Boudreaux and Remy got a job working for a pipeline company. They had to do maintenence on the giant compressors. Neither had worked on them before but they both pretty good with a wrench. They get to the first compressor and start to grease it when the motor starts and the giant flywheel starts to spin. It grabs Boudreaux by his arm and spins him around and around and around before throwing him against a sheetmetal wall. Remy runs up screaming "Boudreaux, Boudreaux is you all right?"

Boudreaux slowly opens his eyes, looks up at Remy and says "I not speaking to you." Remy asks why and Boudreaux says "I done come by three times and you not once say Hello."

It was borrowed from a high school , St. Augustine, "St. Aug.". Apparently they would chant something like "who dat talk about beat St. Aug." before game time. Years ago N.O. had a remarkably promising season in which I think they won like 3 games in a row and the phrase made it into the Superdome. This was way before the "cha ching" thing happened. 30 years and it finally makes sense. God bless 'em.

It's a shortened version of "who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints...who dat....who dat?"...but I don't remember anyone from St. Augustine saying it started in their school...but it very well could have...first time I heard it was from one of the local news sports anchors and it took a few weeks to catch on.

Would be great to be back in the crescent city for this...better than mardi gras...if they win, the mayor is gonna have to call in the national guard.

Sounds too close to the Bengals "WHO DEY!" (which has been around since the '70s) to not be a ripoff.

Yep, derived from the Bongals.

Another common expression you hear on ESPN from a few guys is "Who Dey Say Gunna Beat Dem Saints?"

I'll admit they definitely kicked the Cards ass, but as far as the Vikings game goes you have to admit they got really lucky with that win, the Vikings were doing everything they could to give that win away but the Saints still managed to keep them in it.

IMHO it was good to see the Refs give back some of the stuff we lost in the end...Vikes had next to nothing against them at the start of the 4th. Then we got lucky and they gave us some yards. A costly mistake that'll sit on Favre's shoulders for a life, history repeats itself!

I don't understgand where our 3rd down conversions wernt...we used to be good at em...also need to work on stoping the 3rd down conversions.

Yeah who knows how things would have ended if the Vikings didn't get called on that 12th man in the huddle flag, that 3rd down would have been a run instead of a pass and the Vikings would have at least had a FG attempt.

Yep, but stuff happens...think it's just destiny the Saints keep getting lucky? I think it's their year.

Saints were lower on yards and time of possession...but when Vikes use 8min and 80 yds to score, then Saints (bless dem boys) return kickoff to 40+ yd line and only have to drive 50- 60 yds, using only 2-3 min to score...of course Vikes are gonna dominate on stats. But stats don't mean nuthin.... only da final score.

It was the turnovers that the Vikings had that should have made this a blow out.  The Vikings just had a total melt down on the field last night and the Saints still managed to let the Vikings stay in it.

It was our 3rd down conversions...we'd get the ball, waste two plays and get maybe a yard or three, then miss a 3rd down conv. and have to punt it right back.

That's funny. A year in the Katrina zone and I don't think I ran into anybody from around there. If you were at Bonnabel does that mean you were also a Bunche? Adams/Meisler here.

Hurricane Warning!

Outlook for the Atlantic, Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico …

Hurricane Whodat is predicted to make landfall on the Florida coast in the
vicinity of Miami on 7 Feb 2010 at approximately 2200Z (5:00 PM EST). This
extremely powerful hurricane is expected to produce damaging Shockey waves
and Category 5 Brees. Reports from shipping indicate that this unstoppable
storm has blown a huge flock of Cardinals all the way to Arizona , and that
it has sunk a replica Viking longboat, the *Brettigfǻvren. *Livestock, in
particular young horses, will be in severe danger of being decimated.
Predictive damage estimates are unavailable at this time, but they are
expected to be significant.

All interests in and near the Miami area are advised to prepare for a storm
surge of catastrophic proportions as Hurricane Whodat begins to arrive in
approximately 10 days.

Next advisory 07 Feb 2010 at 0300Z (10:00 PM EST).   :D

 :salute
