i was online last night and dmgod was telling me about this new joystick coming out by saitek called the X65, dunno if ima break down and pay that much for a joystick ($400) but it sure does look cool.

problem is, in that price range its going up against gear like the Cougar HOTAS, against which it really does not compete.
that and a stick that does not move will probably not lend itself well to AH, perhaps for a modern jet sim it would be good.
EDIT: cant wait for the "it has split throttles so you will be able to do cool stuff with the P38!" posts :devil

but the HOTAS got no force feedback, the new x65 have a force controll
-
the feed back on that stick is way to sensitive.
-
i,ll stick with my worn out x45
-
Spend 400$ on a stick that will go out in a couple months when you can spend 30bucks on a stick that last longer
Logitech3dPro 6months so far so good

+1

I got Ch pro pedals, X52 throttle, and a 3d pro stick.........works fine just need more usb ports :D
That joystick does look awesome, but at 400$........I will not have it for awhile :cry
-
If any one does get it ..would be nice to hear what they think of it... Looks sweet..... Not sure I want to relearn. Looks like buttons are in differant enough spots that it woudl take some time to get use to.

Dear Mister Fork,
I got my G940 for Christmas. Oooooh booooy, oooooh booooy. It be down rite purdie. It got all them shinny lights and buttons galore. And boy is it nice to fly with. I thought i could fly on the edge before but the force feedback really gives you a feel for you plane not available in non feedback set ups. I can say I do fly better. Takes me longer to die. But just being able to feel your plane in flight makes it worth every penny. Oh and did I say it had a lot of buttons. I have more buttons than uses in AH. But give me time and I will figure out a use for them.

Thats hands down the most tacky stick throttle I've ever seen, how can they justify $400 for that it certainly hasn't went on materials lol

CH pro pedals, X52 throttle and CH fighterstick here. Like you said, it all works fine. The X52 stick couldn't stand up to my abuse.

I guess you guys have better luck with that Logicrap. I never did.
Dr. Bone, it won't last too much longer, somthing like the hat switch will start to go then the buttons and so on. I've had this X52 for over a year now and so far nothing to account for. If your into the Logicrap then you will have to get used to the sensestivity of it but after that it helps out alot when it comes to many things.

I will never understand why when someone posts what they just bought/are thinking of buying, or asking about something so many people with less expensive gear feel compelled to state what they use and that it "works just fine" in a tone that suggests its dumb to buy the other gear.... as if that in any way says anything about anything..
I guess these same people would pull up next to a Ferrari at a red light, roll down their window and say "your in a Ferrari and im in a civic, but look we are both stuck at this red light, so I guess my car is just as good huh!, pfft what a waste of money that was huh!!"
FYI the reason Ferrari guy never replies isn't because "you got him" its because his model girlfriend is giving him a hummer and hes not paying attention to you.

I have used wingnutt and he works just fine.. :neener:

I used falcon and hit a tree, do not recommend.

Maybe its to save someone some money ie why would you pay more when you can buy the same model stick for less? I'd also bet my right boobie that at heart its an x52 that has been super gimicked to justify its hefty price tag, so again why pay more for the same stick?

To compare that gargoyle of a stick to a Ferrari is an insult! :lol

The stick does not make the pilot.. Some of the best sticks I know fly with the ST290 or it's equivalent.. I've got the x52 and I love it.. However I still pretty much suck at ACM.. And would you know, even that back lighted keyboard didn't make me any better overnight... So I'd say the bottom line is.. Yes it's nice to have good gear and maybe HOTAS etc. but in the end your only as good as you are.. Who cares what Freakin' stick you have if your having fun.. :D
-
I fly w/ the ST290 and love it. It kinda sux to have to control throttle w/ my left hand and then move my hand my left hand again to raise/lower flaps but other then that, it's not too bad.

My CH pedals were like $160, I dont know what kinda money you make but I think thats pretty expensive.....for a game. That X65 looks really cool but at $400......its too expensive for what I have seen with Saitek....My X52 stick went dead after a year so Im against getting more Saitek gear.....my ch pedals are great and you can get the combatstick and throttle for what $300? $100 cheaper with alot of people on here saying it lasted for 5-8 years? you cant beat that :salute
-
I bought my X52 abut 3 years ago, and still have no problems. Brand new for $80 (if you look in Saitek's website, there is a link for reconditioned products for alot cheaper)
-
Hmph...$400.00 :huh Beat the hell out of my Saitek X45 for at least 6 years till it finally died last fall. Got lucky and found a "never out of the box" X45 on EBAY for $20.00 in December...works like a charm. Hope to get another 6 or 8 years out of it. :aok Only issue is I've never been able to smooth the rudder rocker completely, maybe its time for rudder pedals.

i use my stick probably 4+ hours everyday between AH and FS if. had a X52 for over 3 years without it breaking... then wanted a 52 pro and have had it for 2... never once had any problems with either of two...

Titan definetly go for the pedals bro !!!!!
I picked up a ch throttle for 40 bucks on eBay and got the fighterstick and the pedals for 99.00 each shipped to my door. I think change is the way to go.
-
Well I have flown with many different stick set ups. My last before the G940 was the X52. It has lasted 4 years and still works fine. But I am retired, have the money and most of all I like the G940. My advise is buy what you want. You are the one that will be using it not any of the others that post on the boards. Some times you choices work out sometimes they don't. I would recommend rudder pedals and even the TrackIR. And remember smile. :x

I have PRO pedals. They're great with one complaint. Do you find they are too close together? After a hour or more of flying my..er..uh..hmm. privates are all knotted up. I'm pretty sure this is from the pedals, and not from all the Rooks and Bish on my six. 13 years ago when I flew AW for a year, I had a set of Thrustmaster pedals and they were far apart on a center pivot, like a 'Flexible Flyer' sled. I prefered the positioning of those a lot better, I don't think they make those anymore.

I dont notice it because when Im not fighting I dont keep my feet on them(climb out, rtb, ect) So my feet are only on it 10 out of say a 25 minute flight, er uh hmmmm privates :rofl :rofl :rofl :salute

LOL my old CH pedals, I cut them in half, mounted them to a 2 x12? 2 x 10? and spaced them out . Worked like a charm no more num nuts.
-
That's actually the reason I went with the Saitek pedals. I got to check out the CH ones at a store and they felt more like a gas and brake pedal (in terms of spacing) and I found them pretty uncomfortable.

really dnt read the boards that much i just caught your post Bosco ty much for info but i actually have had no problems doing the same maneuvers as a top stick with the pedals and much more then what i have. the sensitivity i have not noticed much at all works fine for me :salute ty much for the thought bud

CH Products have always been more about durability than anything else, its there strongest asset, even then its debatable.
I doubt I will ever own a CH product for that reason statement alone....
(Not to say I haven't tried multiple items they have produced though.)
