I'm thinking on upgrading my mobo/cpu/ram but not sure which mobo out there is decent.
I have two things I might do. Either I:
1- keep my current gaming rig (amd dual core 64bit 4400 with 2gb ram) and upgrade the vid card (from 256mb to 1gig or 512)...
or
2- upgrade the vid card on my current system and buy a low cost mobo/cpu/ram equivalent to what I have so I can end up with 2 systems (we been needing a 2nd pc for other family member). my current 256 vid card would go onto this new system plus I have the rest of the components left over from my last upgrade (case, power supply, dvd rom, etc).
Ive built systems before ..its just been a long time.
which mobo is good for gaming nowadays ... and which one is good yet low cost. Thats what Id like to know.
Note: Im only buying AMD .. I dont like Intel. Looking for regular cpus not low end celeron types.
edit: I been looking at this combo for the 'newer low end' option...

AMD Phenom II X2 545 3.0GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor - Retail
for 144 bucks. just need to get ram for it and a new vid card.
and this one for the 'newer high end' option:

I am an AMD fan but AMD is not up to snuff right now. I just built a new rig with the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 and the i5 750 with 16 gig of Corsair Ram.

So now you can only fly F4U's! You should've gone with the P-38 RAM. :bolt:

I think you may be better off with a Gigabyte board, they have a reliable product and a good, maybe a little slow, warranty. My uncle broke my motherboard when he brough my PC back from his house because he wasn't gentle enough , I sent an RMA request, got my number the next day and mailed it out. It DID take them about 2 and a half weeks to get it back to me, but they fixed it, no charge, no whines, no problems. And if you aren't really into gaming or having the best PC you can get, those CPUs you are looking at are pretty nice, but you MAY want to check out the Phenom II X3s, they are cheaper than the quad cores, but you can unloock the 4th core by yourself.
Here's the link for AM3 mobos. http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboard/Products_List.aspx?VenderType=AMD&CPUType=socket+am3
