Title: B25C Wep X3
Post by: AKP on February 01, 2010, 06:33:43 AM
The B-25C is the only bomber in the game that I know of that has WEP, that you can take up in a formation.  I have noticed that if you up the 25C in a formation, and you wep until it runs out, you can just hit wep again and get the full burn time for it.  Actually... you can do this twice... getting the full wep time for EACH plane in the formation.

Yesterday, I wepped a formation of B25C's for over a sector... each time it cut off, I just turned it back on until each plane had used up it's wep time.

Kinda nice if you are the buff driver... but that doesnt make it right.

If the lead buff is wepping, and the drones are staying in formation, they should be wepping right along with you... therefore burning theirs at the same rate.

Its like on some racing games where depending on the difficulty level, the AI cars go slower when they are in front of you and faster (surrealistically) when they lag behind. Its just a way to make things easier for you. In a real formation, if the leader always hits Max power, the wingman will always be slower than you if they are not replicating exactly what you are doing.

It makes coding the drones easier I guess but at the cost of realism. We can still live with that because the amount of time I see B25s in formation is pretty much... never

I see, and fly them more than never.  Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that I have 3 times the wep in a formation of B25's... but I dont think that was intended.  I have noticed that when a bomber drone loses an engine... it loses speed.  Especially one of the 2 engine drones.  I have to reduce my speed so I dont lose it.  So it stands to reason, that if I am using wep... so are they.  And therefore the drones should not have fresh engines when the lead plane runs out of it.

If however, this IS the way it is supposed to be... it would be nice to know.

IIRC, B-26s have WEP at high alts

Just tested at 20k, no WEP.

Believe they took WEP out of the B26 a few versions ago.

Yup... I seem to remember them having it at one time.  But no longer.

I don't fly buffs anymore.  Never knew they took it out.

Ok... today they worked like they are supposed to  :huh  Soooo....perhaps this was a "glitch" rather than a "bug"?
