Along with the other blue collar comedy dudes, but Larry in particular. Have to be the dumbest, un funny comedians I have seen.
I thought they were pretty lame when they did the comedy tour, but I just caught his latest standup on comedy central. Tailgate party or something.
Mind you this is all my opinon, but its pretty lame. His get r done thing is way over the top. He says it so much its no longer a catch phrase, than it is some verbal tic he cant get rid of.
What do you guys think?
-
Gotta agree.
Although I find the whiskey drinkin guy pretty funny.(I think his last name is White)
The nascar fans seem to eat these guys up.
Together they did one skit that was pretty funny.

Other than that,I find these guys to be about as entertaining as "Hee Haw".
But, different strokes for different folks I suppose.
-
I'm underwhelmed by both Larry and Ron White. They are far funnier when together with the other two, Engvall and Foxworthy. I wouldn't pay to see either Larry or Ron alone.

I saw Ron White live a few years ago. He's one of my favorites because of that.
I also saw Gabriel Iglesias. He's also very funny.
-
I fully agree. I do enjoy Ron White, however.

I can't resist jumping in.
Larry..if you don't already know...is a character...and not an actual person...played by the person...dan whitney.
to his credit....he saw a gaping hole and an opportunity years ago..when many people told him the character of Larry was low brow...and hack. most of those folks who told him that were fellow comics....and most of those comics aren't even in the business anymore. it all started as a call-in radio character...and as more and more stations also had him call-in...he grew a national following...and then over the years played small clubs as "Larry". that went from small clubs to large performance venues.....and then Cd sales, huge tours, and disney movies.
two years ago he was the highest grossing tour act in the world, bringing in just a little north of 200 million dollars between his tours, movies, and merchandise sales.
the cat is really from nebraska...and isn't a redneck at all. I don't personally find him funny either.....I much prefer dennis miller...but that said.......there is an entire market our there he dominates.....and I tip my hat to him...all the way to the bank.

Meh, Ron isnt all bad. But I can definately go without him. Ive never cared for Foxworthy, and Engvall would be my favorite (i still use that word loosely.) But Larry, my god. The fact that he is successful, and making money doing standup is nothing short of amazing to me.
Not even going to mention the crap that Larry tries to pass off as movies. That is what my idea of hell is, sitting in a room with a TV and the only thing on it is Larrys movies.
-
I like Bill Engvol and Ron White, Larry sucks! Foxworthy I used to enjoy, but not so much now. He still has some funny ones but most are reworks of the acts he started with.

the only thing that makes me wanna hit someone more than hearing rap, is hearing that stupid "gitr done" thing.
and you're right......they're agonizingly un funny.
-
I think Larry The Cable Guy is relatively funny. And a very good friend of mine is Bill Engval's nephew. Last year, Bill Engval went and visited the school around March. Very cool. (on an related note, every time I see Bill on TV, I just wanna punch his nephew, for bein so damn lucky.)
-
Ron White has actually made me laugh my bellybutton off more than once but I never really cared one way or another for "Larry". Rodney Carrington is damn funny if we are talking " blue collar" type stuff. Im a Sam Kinison guy. :aok

Ron White is hilarious... Larry's pretty good... Bill Engvall's OK.... Jeff Foxworthy's not.
Not sure what I like about Larry... or what other people hate so much about him. I see him as a character (which is what he is) and I love satire so...
-
Rodney Carrington for prez
-
I'd pay money to see zombie George Carlin.
-
"Whats Tulsa spelt backwards? A Slut! What's a slut backwards? About 50 bucks! That's funny right thar, I don't care who ya are!"

Lemme say, I did love Sam, but even more, I loved his best friend Bill Hicks. One of the all time best comedians, and largely passed over by the masses.

:aok i was thinking the same thing

I saw him on his last two tours. Fantastic.

Rodney Carrington FTW :aok

Dead on Zeta, Dan's a good customer of mine and a great person. Love em or hate em, he's laughing all the way to the bank!
-
Sam Kinison was as funny as a self performed root canal with a Dremel tool...once in a while he would say something funny. :huh
Larry the cable guy is a perfect characterization of the redneck trailer trash hillbilly...mindless humor, and it's funny...just like some of the same characterizations that Red Skelton and Jonathan Winters did decades ago...they just didn't make a career of being hillbillies.
I do get tired of the "git er dun" stuff as well...as much as I'm tired of the Jeff Foxworthy "you might be a redneck..." jokes.
Bill Engvall's here's your sign routine is something we all find ourselves wanting to do to someone or being the target of, and that is what makes his stuff funny.
Ron White is either on or off, depends on how much he's had to drink.
The worst comedians are the ghetto "f*$& yo mamma b@&*" crackheads that have hit the stages over the past 10 years...and some of the funniest are the Arabic comedians.

The guy loves Nebraska athletics and recently donated a large sum of money directly to the baseball team for a locker room upgrade. It is now a place that makes major league locker rooms look like little league.

My favorite living comedian is Louis C.K.
Dude is funny as hell, great material, perfect delivery and timing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN0MpBQG3-E off Conan a year or so ago and not a bad bit at all, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpaCQKJpE9k is one of the all time best bits every and makes me laugh so hard that I cry. The really good stuff starts at 5:06, one of the best bits you'll ever see. Absolutely in no way safe for work due to language, but damn funny.

I always liked Mitch Hedberg and Steven Wright.
I liked Mitchs' take on escalators.
They can't really break down.
They just turn into stairs.
Alas like alot of the greats he has passed on.
And Steven Wright is like the "Ramones"of comedy. (they had alot of really really short songs)
He can spit out 4 jokes a minute.
-
Of the current commedians I like Jeff Dunham. Of those we have lost I like Red Skelton, Abbott and Costello the most.
-
i got to see Jeff Dunham great stuff

Mitch Hedberg never failed to make me laugh, his jokes were nothing too great, but his delivery was unmatched. I can listen to his CDs and know what's coming and still laugh out loud every time.

ya can't get much funnier than george carlin.
i don't think this is work safe.

I have all of Rodney Carringtons cds and recently have added the dvd of him performing at the majestic to the collection.
Mitch is also a classic, I like his bit about refried beans and fritos. "I wanna try fried beans, cause maybe their just as good and we are wastin time!"
Im partial to the singing comedians. Stephen Lynch espcially, Adam Sandler and here recently Bo Burnham.
As far as George Carlin goes, call me crazy but ive never really found any of his material funny.
