If this is true and works for humans, whats the odds this article is the only time we will hear about it?
CANCER patients are offering themselves as human guinea pigs as researchers investigate a possible cure for cancer found in north Queensland rainforests.
Scientists have identified a compound in the fruit of the native blushwood shrub that appears to "liquefy and destroy cancer with no side-effects", according to latest research.

Too bad it says at least 7 years till it's available, my uncle was just diagnosed with colon cancer last month.
-
I'm going to guess that organizations such as the FTC will try to snug this one under the rug with the argument it will destroy too many jobs. I certainly do hope the treatment is highly successful and makes it into the open.

With the rate the article says the cancer cells are destroyed...if this test goes very well, we could probably be seeing this with 1-2 years

Unfortunatley knowing Queensland the fruit is probably guarded by a huge spider, a couple of deadly snakes, stinging nettles and a waitawhile bush. But on the serious side this cant be swept under the rug, its way too important if it does what is expected of it.

According to my oncologist
Colon cancer is one of the most common cancers and also has a very high cure rate of over 90%
In fact. Most men will actually get colon cancer in their lifetimes. Most often in the later stages of life. But its usually so slow moving that the patient usually dies of other natural causes before the cancer ever comes close to killing them.
Course there are exceptions and every cancer should be taken seriously.
But the good news is if you have to get a cancer. Thats one of the ones you would rather get

Sounds more like you are describing Prostate Cancer, sure you don't have the two confused?

As for the original post. This is hopefully fantastic news. Any word on which types of cancers it is effective on?
I doubt it will be avalable for general use in 1-2 years and the 5- 7 to me sounds about right. Reason being is they will want to study recurrence rates.
Typically after 5 years a patent is considered cured as most recurrences if they are going ot happen at all. Usually happen within the first 5 years. After that the recurrence rate drops dramatically.
More then likely it will be available for widespread trials and testing and then in 1-2 years and then for general use 5 years after that
Other then having cancer in the first place. The side effects of chemo sucks the worst.
Listing my own were
Sudden morning sickness. (Wake up, get up, move around. Take those first few deep morning breaths of fresh air and suddenly wretch away. fortunately this passed as rapidly as it came on)
Super sensitive skin. (twisting open a bottle of beer was painful as it felt like the cap was slicing my skin open)
Loss of appitite and general "sick" feeling (the latter I found can be minimized by simply not laynig around feeling sick and getting up and staying active doing things)
Loss of body hair (Yes ALL your body hair. Everything but your eyelashes)
Loss or alteration of taste. -Most things taste differently and often things you normally like often taste terrible. for me. Cola tasted like garlic water and eggs like a blob of snot. Coffee tasted like wet cardboard smells. Anything chocolate tasted equally horrid, like copper. Alot of things took on an almost metalic taste to them. Other things didnt taste like anything at all. Fortunately this usually lasted only a few days after each treatment.
And just a general bla feeling in between
Now each unto themselves doesnt sound too terrible. But combined together they really suck. Add to that suckiness. I was getting my treatments every two weeks And just when I would get to the point where i was feeling almost normal again. It was time to go back for another treatment and the anxiety that came with the thought of starting that whole routine all over again

hmm. Now that I think about it.You may be right. If so. My bad.
But still is a very common cancer has a VERY high cure rate (90%)
Colon and Rectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers, yet it is one of the most preventable. Almost 90% of patients can survive this disease when detected early through screening. For patients with early stage or advanced disease, treatment is tailored for you.

sadly, if there is any truth to this, it will dissappear faster than you can blink an eye.

Once identified, compounds can often be manufactured.

you missed my point.
there is no money in curing the disease. there is only money in treating it.

Hate to go all greeny here but the old addage of save the rain forrests may in the long run just may save us.

Colon cancer CAN be cured but only if it's caught in time. Unfortunately many men are such wusses and afraid to go to the Dr because they think they too studly to get something like cancer. Either that or they are afraid that the Dr. will tell them something they don't want to hear. As a result many of those manly men end up dying because they were to afraid to go to the Dr.
Suck it up. Go see the doc and get the finger wave and a PSA blood test. When it's time get a colonoscopy. You don't impress anyone by saying you are too strong for that crap. It just lets folks know you are a genuine pansy because you are afraid of Dr's.
Trust me hearing a diagnosis of cancer can screw up your entire day but that's not the worst thing. Hearing it's untreatable because you let it go and ignored the symptoms will ruin your entire life. Hearing it could have been treated easily before just confirms you were stupid and you threw your life away. That is the definition of suck.

Been about 17 years now and I remember it almost like it was yesterday. then again I have a few scars to remind me both physically and psychologically. But fortunately the gripping fear of recurrence has lessened to almost nonexistance over the years.
All in all though. Other then being 48 and not 31 any longer. So far Im doing just ducky.

Yep, greed and control will take over.

Another new and exciting development. Seems there is a relatively harmless virus that likes to attack and kill cancer cells

Only this one may hit the market by 2012

Yeah Phatty is right.
You would have to argue with a Taipan. "GET YOUR OWN BUSH A HOLE".
