Title: How does a 251 survive this?
Post by: PewterC5 on February 06, 2010, 09:19:20 AM
I am not one to accuse people of cheating so no names will be mentioned, but this puzzled me. Can someone tell me how a 251 could withstand this hit from a 1000lb bomb  :headscratch:.

I don't think I can drop it any closer than this and yes the bomb exploded (traveled more than 1000').

Well the second pic obviously shows the bomb did not detonate.

I think it detonated.  Notice no crater in the first pic, and in the second, the remainder of the bomb is right in the middle of one.

it did detonate, when you rewind films the craters and explosions sometimes stay.

It's a joke fellas, because it looks like the bomb is stuck in the ground in the pic.

Get it.

This stuff happens, sometimes its someones connection sometimes its a game glitch, most times its not anyone trying to cheat,no need to post this stuff, it happens.
One time i seen someone that was in a t34,but to everyone else it looked like a p51-D,Watching them fire that big gun was funny.

Same reason that sometimes it takes 50 direct rounds to kill a tank. Just inherent flukes of any online game. Folks need to understand and not take it so personal.

I've been hit about that same distance while in a wirble. It has been a couple months ago, but I believe my turrent was still operable. I wasn't complaining, however, the other guy who dive bombed me (i believe flying a 110) might have been.

I thought if I hit registered on your end, the damage would be done, even if the other guy had a crap connection, the "damage" packet will be resent till it gets through   :headscratch:

I watched the video again and all it did was track him, I was able to gun him down and kill him later. It just puzzles me that 4 .50cals and a 20mm can do more damage than a direct 1000lb bomb hit. :headscratch:

Maybe he completely dropped out? Then he would no longer register in game, It would be a ghost there till the TTL dropped I guess.

*edit* just a fluke I guess

If you look closely at the middle of the windscreen, you can see some lucky pink fluffy dice hanging from the view rear mirror..either that, or due to defence budget cuts the bomb was made in china.

I'm sure the GVers who get popped by 100lb bombs say the same thing. But it happens. I can drop a 1000lber on a tanks head and get nothing. Everytime one lands within a sector of me I'm toast.

It's been my experience that the Skfz 251 is crazy durability vs. bombs.  I've been hit by 2 500 lb bombs in one, one bomb at a time, the "clunggg" sound of a hit, and survived.

Machine guns or cannons and they pop like any other light armored vehicle.

wrongway

In my personal opinion extreme armor slopes of the 251 would channel forces away from the vehicle. I still think the crew would be severely wounded or dead from overpressure damage.

Regardless it's a 1K bomb...not a 250lb or 100lb bomb...

the real question is why not save the bomb and just gun the light vehical down? Then you could bomb a tank with the big egg later

True in this instance I would say this vehicle should have died.

I'm on a differant computer so that image is from a very quick search on google Images. I do have the proper one on my home computer where the phrase is 'WWII, Best out of three'

I skimmed through this thread, came upon stealths post. I didnt know it was stealth who posted it, as I was scrolled down to just his text.

I read it several times, and the joke was eluding me. Was kind of irritating for a time, as I thought I was missing some clever retort that was beyond my measely grasp.

Then, I see someone quoted it and finally seen who posted the gem. Now it makes perfect sense and can go about my day now. :)

Think of it in this light...the joke isn't on us but rather on his parents.
