yeah thats right, the yak company is offering to build brand new yak-9 from the original ww2 drawings for 350k
eveything is built like the original, excep it will be fitted with an american alison v-12.

God, I wish. Now, if someone in Russia started building La-5FNs or La-7s, then I'd seriously start counting my pennies :)

I noticed it comes with "new" parachutes--no extra charge, hehe.
That plane is meaner looking than the Spitfire from the right angle.

the yak is way cheaper.....and it aint no kit plane or replica!!
its the real thing made by the YAK factory.

raven the Flugwerke GmbH FW190A8/N is build after original FW documents, they also have original Focke Wulf Werknummer (prodution numbers).
It wasnt able to build it by Focke Wulf, cause Focke Wulf died in 1965 and was when i remember right bought of by the Daimler-Benz (now Daimler-Chrysler) concern.
As with the Yak, modern materials are used and the engine is a japanize license production of the BMW801, this bird is as original as the YAK.

Flug Werk are using the Ash-82FN engine in the FW 190A-8/N. This is the same engine that powered the La-5FN and La-7, which is kind of ironic. :)
I saw one of the recently built Yak-3's in action a couple of years ago. Very pretty!

as for the yak isnt the alison v12 american? on the site it said it was using the alison v12, not a japanese licensed bmw eng?
i just reckon the yak looks more like the real thing:-)

look is a thing of position,
wait till the FW190 is painted in an orignal paint scheme, add gun dummies and i thing u wont be able to say if it is 1943 build or 2001 :D
anyway both planes are great, now i need to earn around 1 million $ to buy both and another 5 million to be able to keep em for my lifetime ;)
P.S. the allison is a US engine

Please notice that all the planes oth the photos there are Yak-3s, not Yak-9s :)

Was on Duxford airshow. They had a original YAK-3 and a plane they claimed to be YAK-11. I thought it was a La-7, because it had a radial engine and looked like a La-7. Did they have a YAK-11 with a radial engine in WWII?

Yak-11 was a post-war trainer. Something like a Yak-3 airframe with a snall radial engine.

Now, all that I need is a company that starts making the 109. Then, when I'm rich and famous, I'll buy a 109, 190, P51 and Yak. Then I can have some nice 2vs2's against my butler and gardener. Any volunteers to fly on my wing in the 190? ;)` :D

It is a Yak-3, but they call the two-seater version a Yak-9.
FWIW's, Richard Goode (The guy who runs the company) is one of the most knowledgable guys on russian airplanes I know, although his main focus is on their more modern planes.

Flugwerk would make completly new 109, too, if the engine problem is solved. At the moment they just offer components for the 109 (new aillerons, ruder ...).
There is no engine for the 109 avaiable worldwide at the moment (hanging cylinders, size...)

Thanks for the link, Niklas! €35.500... Not bad for a 109! Actually, thats cheaper than my car. ;)
That lame rotax will have to go, though. Vmax 210km/h just ain't enough. Can't even catch a damn 737 on final approach with that. :D
And thanks for the wingie offers, guys. I appreciate it! Now, if I get really really rich and famous, I might establish a whole squadron of those replica 109s. Then I'll invite you all for a spin or two. :p

I talked to both a New-build Yak-9U pilot and a Czech-built Yak-11 pilot over this past weekend at the NW EAA fly in, Arlington,WA (July 11-15th). Bud Granley was flying Eddie Andreini's Yak-9. Bud is one of the Jeff Ethell-type goto guys when you need any plane flown anywhere. True master. This airplane was built recently at the Yakolev factory. Sam Richardson was flying the Yak-11 which was previously flown and owned by Dan McCue. The Yak-11 is a 1946 2-place trainer with a Yak-3 airframe and an R-2000 copy radial engine. Both have the same wing and wing structure though the Yak-11 has gear door mods for racing at Reno (took Bronze one year - not sure which category). Sam has been racing this airplane for the past 5 years.
The Yak-9U is NOT an airplane suitable for pilots new to warbirds according to both pilots. The stall speed is 110 mph at landing weight and it does so with no warning. Sam said he would never purposefully stall it at less than 10,000 because you'll need most of that to recover. Without going into too much detail, he said the stall was viscous. Even with enough flying speed, the post stall recovery was hampered by the secondary stall tendancies. The airplane gives no indication that it is entering the secondary until it has already happened.
Eddie is attempting to make improvements to the stall speed of the Yak-9 with a row of vortex generators over the top leading edge of each wing. They are down to 70 mph for the stall at landing weight. Work is continuing on the actual characteristics of the stall to introduce some kind of warning and to ease recovery problems. Despite this, Bud Granley said that the range is amazing at cruise power. He states that he could easily go more than 900 miles on internal fuel.

MiG Eater, I was at the same airshow (Saturday) and talked to the gal a bit. VERY nice airplane. That Allison V12 sounded very good. Saw the flybys and got a few pics. Even though it was made in 1996 it still was exciting to see a Yak 9U up close and personal. Got all excited and went home to jump in one in AH and promptly died. That Yak11 though looked like a sweet ride. I'd like to see one in AH next. :)
