for some reason I always seem to have moments of brilliance while taking a crap.
Anyway, what I would like to see is no GPS aid when you're out of friendly radar coverage. IE, once you're in indian-country you lose your own icon on the map AND map auto centering.
This would make things more interesting, especially for the buffers. It would give them more of a challenge getting to target AND would address some of the strato-buff problem (ie, get to high and you find it harder to navigate visually).

HELLO!?! Buffs have external view! Fighters would suffer, but not buffs. I can see you taking a crap from 1-1/2 sectors away and thirty-five angels from a Lanc, so wipe that crap off your face and pull them jeans up, boy! :D
Butt (snicker), seriously, this would only lead to people hanging over their fields (ack huggers delight) and diminish the frequency of resets. I, for one, want more map circulation (and more maps for that matter).
<edit> Back to the potty, Vulcan! :D </edit>

Vulcan this is by far your least productive crap taking/thought session I have seen for a long time. We have come to expect more from your feces thinking.

Vulcan's buttstench is overmodeled. I've personally seen it deflect 20mm cannon.

Sorry, but I dont think this would work at all. The first time a person gets lost and wanders around for a while, wasting alot of time and not seeing any action, they would be on this board whining to beat hell. And, have no doubt about this, guys would get lost alot. Alot.
This game is about virtual combat, its about action and having fun. Its not about becoming a proficient navigator.
The map isnt distinct enough to recognize landmarks sufficiently well to navigate.

Before I even taking flight training back in the 70's I went out and purchased a book called "Private Pilot" From this book I learned about wind triangles, pilotage and dead reckoning. This served me well when I actually got my hands on a E6B computer. Now let me get haughty. I strongly suspect that the greater majority of AH players have not idea of what I'm talking about or for that matter give a rat's ass. Utilizing real live navigation rules would be absolutely great for me but I suspect that so many would be turned off by actually having to plan a flight that it would become a serious financial detriment. We'll never see it.
