I went out and bought a $7.00 keyboard after filling my old $40.00 one with beer and making it too sticky to use. Anywho, been using it for about two months now and went to warn someone that a 190 was closing by pressing f12 and saying "Watch the 190 behind you xxxxxx" and in my haste hit the button just to the right of f12. This spectacular little button that I've never really noticed before says "Power" on it. My computer just shut down. I just went "Poof" as far as anyone around me was concerned. I dont have this button on my keyboard at work or my old one.
Q. Does anyone else have this or is this the keyboard from Hell?

Mine has it too.
But a few seconds with a small flat screwdriver fixes the problem real fast

Got a Power button on my Logitech Wave Keyboard (55$), it's not close enough to any buttons to be a problem though. To hit it instead of F12 you would have worse hand-eye co-ordination then a blind person. Actually amazed a 7$ keyboard has a Power button, usually buttons like that are only put on higher-end ones. One nice thing about Logitech is the SetPoint software, if you have a Logitech install the software, you can program that button to do nothing.

You might hold that old $70 keyboard under the faucet, then let it dry for a few days. You don't have much to lose.

LMFAO... :rofl
Sorry phatzo...it's just funny because I did the same thing with a keyboard that had that power key and I never paid attention to it until...poof I fat fingered the f12 key...that keyboard no longer exists.

I customize my keyboards by removing the Caps Lock, Insert, and Scroll Lock keys. Makes life just a little bit easier.

What I hate is when I press the 'Z' key for zoom I instead hit the windows key and watch the game window disappear.

That's why I map all my important keys to the lower-left portions of the keyboard. Mine doesn't have a power key, but it has a standby key that works with Windows 7 (it didn't with my XP), as well as Internet, Search, and Help keys. All of which take away from important Aces High time.

Ive got a nifty logitech g15, I forgot how much it was but it has a cool switch that enables or disables the windows key.
Its specifically a gamers keyboard, so it doesnt have all those hotkeys.

You can pop that key out, if it's one that you can do that too, or you can completely detail your old keyboard, I've done this one with mine before, it takes time and you need to keep a pic of where all the keys go, but just take a screwdriver and pop all the keys off, you have to apply some force to get them off, but you wont break it, clean them all & clean the board itself with all the keys off, then just re-assemble, good as new.
