Title: So I bought Mount and Blade for $5 on Steam...
Post by: Tac on February 18, 2010, 08:59:48 PM
Game has improved lots over the years (I used to play the demo a few years back).

So now im hunting mods for my game.

Looking for a mod that makes archery realistic, AI npc strategy more believable (this thing of killing off all armies an enemy owns and 1 day later they raise 100 more elite units is just fubar)... is what im looking for.

Any suggestions?

Well there are loads to choose from.

Start at the M&B Mod repository and start reading.
Personally, I am currently running

1866 the western mod
BNL Eighty years of war (Set in the Netherlands)
Custom Settlements (lets you "Grow" your own country)
Europe 1200, Expanded Gameplay, Eagle and Wolves.
Star Wars Conquest, Sword of Damocles and WWII China.
Of those I spend the most time in SWConquest and BNL, but they are my latest additions.

I'd look for something set in England, 1200's or so. Will put more emphasis on bow work, less on knights & lances.

Thanks for this. I have it, and really liked it.

I didn't upgrade from the last Beta version to the full version after hearing how they completely nerfed the Nords. They went from having the best pure infantry in the game to total mediocrity.

The 1257 edition and the Britain 1297 mods are set up for pure domination by long bowmen. Just watch for that French cavalry. Another great archery mod is Prophesy of Pendor; get a Noldo bow with Noldo arrows and you are more than set. Oh and don't even bother with the Warband multiplayer expansion when it is released soon. I've been beta testing it since the start and it is utter crap. Not to mention the average player acts as if they are 10 years old with the vocabulary of a five year old.
