Also video cotrol panel says :
antialiasing mode set to appliction controlled
antialiasing Gamma correction -- On (?)
antialsing trasparency --- Off (?)
Maximum pre-rendered frames --- "3" options of 0 to 8
milti-display/mixed GPU acceleration is "multiple display performance mode" have options of "single display" and "compatable performance"
Texture filtering anisoptropic sample optimazation is -- off
Texture filtering negative LOD bias -- "allow"
Texture filtering quality -- "Quality"
Texture filtering trilinear optimazation -- "on"
threaded optimization is -- "auto"
Triple buffering --- "off"
verticle sync --- "use the 3d app setting" with options of force on or force off
Game is playing good but I've had 1 freeze (had to hard reboot) and several times when I go to the tower or hanger with the clipboard up all of the sudden the terrain will get dark - stars come out and bases disappear from the clipboard. I can still highlight options on the clipboard and quit the game from the clipboard and it goes to the initial start-up screen but the clipboard does not appear so I can "quit" and I have to close out using alt F4 then restart the game.
I can post the rest of the dxdiag if you need to see it.
Any ideas or tweaks will be appriciated.

Everything should be OFF or set to Application controlled with the few exceptions below.

I dont know if your using SLI or not but SLI will permanently disable VSync (bad) with XP and the latest gen drivers. There may be some 'unofficial' drivers out there that fix this.
-
Thanks Chalenge. I'm not sure of the SLi. I'll show this post to a friend that built the computer and see if he knows.... or is there an easy way I can check?
Is this a pretty good system? I know the game looks entirely different then what it used to on my old crappy laptop.

was you having this problem before your recently updated Video Driver?
Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9621 (English)
DDI Version: 9 (or higher)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
Driver Date/Size: 1/11/2010 22:03:33, 6359168 bytes
you might want to roll this driver back to the one had previous to updating this one, if you was not having these current problems....
just an idea
hope this helps

I just got it yesterday and started playing. A friend built it for me, so this was the first run. Thanks TC and good to see you again.

IF it is a freshly built PC, he may have downloaded the most up to date driver offered for your videocard...... I would ask others who have this card in Aces High, which Video Driver Version, they are using...... just because their might be a new version out, does not mean it will be better in Aces High or any other game for that matter
I am sorry I can not offer you much more than that, I have very limited knowledge of Nvidia Video Cards / Driver issues.....
Good to see you also

I would first try the 190.38 drivers from NVidia.
If the problem persists, I would try disabling the "Detailed Terrain" option in the "Options->Graphic Details->Advanced" panel.
If the problem stills persists, then set the "Maximum Texture Size" in the games "Video Settings" to 256.
if the problem still persists, I would be concerned with power or heat issues.

I set it the way Challenge had listed, defragged (needed it) and turned off water reflection. It is running fine so far. 59fps with detail terrain and water. looks and runs good for me.
Thanks
