Title: Air Force One movie
Post by: Selino631 on February 19, 2010, 06:50:14 PM
I just watched Air Force One, i was just wondering if it actually would be possible for USAF PJ's to preform the in-air rescue like they do at the end of the movie, What do you all think? :airplane:

It would be extremely hard to do but I'm sure it could happen.

On a flight to Sky Harbor a couple years ago they played Air Force One...kind of weird.

I believe they played Air Force One the movie on Air Force One, the aircraft. It must have been very strange.

Its been used since before WW2 with slight variations here and there, ts been done with fuel, parts, and other things for many years.

Lately its not as common though...

Selino, I dont know if they use it yet....but they are designing a way for C130s to extract special ops teams out just by flying by. The warriors send a cord up using a ballon then the C130 latchs onto it and up they go.

gotta be one hell of a tug :D

They have used something like for years Junky....mostly with supplies and not "live cargo" though.

I thought airlines weren't supposed to show movies where an aircraft crashes or is destroyed?

The system Junky is referring to has been around for years and has been discontinued by the USAF.

It may be Wiki, but its info........

Junky...Strip..........the USAF has had that for years...it's called the Fulton recovery system.................If I recall its been used mostly in training and evaluation...causes one heck of a jerk even though it's basically a bungee cord thats connecting the dude on the ground to the balloon.  It was even filmed in the movie "The Green Berets" with John Wayne.   The AFSOC MC-130 Talon I's  had them and I don't think the Talon II's had em.

Supposedly they're supposed to either not show them, or filter those scenes out, because it can cause the passengers to freak out about the possibilities of a crash.
