Title: Question about the possible new Damage Mod.
Post by: Old Sport on February 22, 2010, 09:48:46 AM
On the assumption that the new damage mod to be tested in the WWI arena is successful, does that mean all existing WWII planes, even the recent ones, will require a complete overhaul to take advantage?

(I realize that all the "AH I" planes need some major surgery anyway. :lol)

best.

If I recall correctly, you are correct.  The WWI arena will be the 'live test' for the damage model which will then transition to the WWII arenas.

Tough call with limited intel..........

I'm making the assumption that nothing "visible" is going to change really.  Parts still fall off of planes, but the way in which those parts fail/fall will be changed...... NO MORE than that.

So the way the model calculates the damage to say a wingtip changes somewhat but the wingtip will still break off at the moment when the damage reaches a certain point.

I could be quite wrong about this but, if I recall correctly, at the time of AHI to AHII there was a thread about what is really different about the new models.  In it there was a mention from HTC that the new model allowed for (but not yet implemented) a more complex damage system.  If this is true/correct, then I suspect an 'overhaul' is probably not necessary.

Yes, this is what I was wondering. Thanks for the input.
