Okay, these are some aircraft I'd love to see in the next few versions of Aces High. Correct me if any of them are in the game, because sometimes the names and designations are different.
And, I would also like to see the Mosquito's 57mm cannon.
And the planes are:
F8F Bearcat: F8F-1, F8F-1B and F8F-2
Yakolev Yak-7: Yak-7A, Yak-7B and Yak-7T
Sukhoi Su-2: Su-2 and Su-4
Yakolev Yak-3: Yak-3 and Yak-3K
Yakolev Yak-9: Yak-9, Yak-9T, Yak-9K and Yak-9TD
Mikoyan MiG-3: MiG-3
SB2C Helldiver: SB2C-1 and SB2C-1C
Sukhoi Su-6: Su-6
Most of them are attackers, and from the Soviet Union. Though I do want the F-8F and SB2C.
Post what you think!

Only one on this list that is in game is the Yak-9T.
The F8F did not see squadron strength/combat service in WWII to be included into the game.
Yak 3 +1.

So, because the F8F wasn't that famous, they left it out???

No, WWII was over before it saw combat service. HTC's rules do not permit aircraft that did not see combat service and/or squadron strength.

Sorry I didn't know it didn't serve. I saw it on a page listing all WWII aircraft.

If you look closely there is an asterisk....

I think the list is waaay ahead of the game. For now, lets try to get basic models and no sub-types.
Like the HE-111 or the Yak-3 and so on, not the Yak-7B whatever. . . To be honest there are far too many requests for planes only a few people will fly and even then its for curiosity. Meanwhile crates like the Yak-3 will become the launching point for entire squads (I know the french are looking to form a proper NN squad - and I am waiting for this). Sure having some diversity in bombers and attack planes would be nice, but I for one, am hoping that AH will see the value in adding planes that had a major impact in the dogfighting arena, have a large body of historical value, and are going to compete against the most dominant planes in LW right now. I love the LA-7 and teh Yak-9U so I will keep flying those (and the KI-84 out of national pride) but those are planes that came at the end of a series of developments - and I think its those planes that should be modeled first, not the interum fighters that no one will fly because the more advanced versions are available.
my 2 cents.

There all almost Yaks,is there a point to so many russian planes.
-
You are 100% right about one thing dude..................
It is a relatively large list...... of bullchit. Half of which, is Plinko crap that they barely used!
+1 on the Yak 9 though! :rock

Yak 3 and the Mig 3 would be good. Along with a substantial amount of Japanese AC.

YES! To Grumman Dauntless. Looks like a shortened fuselage F6F with greater top speed, greater climb 30%, and lighter 20%. :salute
-
LaGG-3 as well
but the yak-3 would be goof as well

:huh
1) We already have the Dauntless. It's a dive-bomber made by Douglass.
2) You're probably mistaking it with the F8F, which wasn't even in the war zone yet when the war ended (en route, but didn't make it).

What the Dauntless? That doesnt even look like an f6f look i'll show you.

the dauntless was gimped during the war (must have sucked as much as being a TBM pilot/crew - you know you are gonna die) and in AH. . .
anyway, I really want to see more russian and japanese planes - but I will settle for the Yak-3 to start (such a nice crate that. . .drooling at the possibility of a lighter, faster, more manuverable Yak-9U) and yes, I will be begging for the tri-colour spinner!!

Actually, Dauntless crews loved their planes. Most of them were dragged into transitioning to the SB2C kicking and screaming.

Tell that to the Japanese Navy.

No doubt. The only thing that sunk more enemy tonnage than the Dauntless during WWII was the submarine.

I understand why. Super maneuverable plane, great weapons package, sturdily built, and a gun on the back to keep whoever is on your six off while you are maneuvering. Why would anyone want to get a whole new plane?

I googled F-8F and got an extensive article with the wrong photo's. They had what looked like an F6F and were calling it the F8F...? :headscratch:

Bearcats were a wartime development, tested, and actually built before the war ended. As with the F7F Tigercat, they were en route to the Pacific when the war ended. My grandfather was a radio operator aboard the USS Langley (CVL-27) that carried VF-18 and 19 to the PTO in June/July of '45. So technically, yes, they were squadron strength before the end of the war, but they obviously never saw combat. Hell, even the AD-1 Skyraider was designed, tested and flown before the end of WW2, albeit in protoype form.
The SBD was loved by its crews (had lunch with an SBD driver the other day!). The SB2C, especially the early variants, were not. Although faster and capable of carrying a bigger payload, it was a larger target that was difficult to fly, had a slew of problems including structural failures, electrical problems, and directional instability. These were all addressed by the time -4 arrived and it went on to be a successful aircraft. Same thing with the B-26 initially, and it went on to be the most-survivable bomber of WW2.
One of the problems we face with dive bombing in AH is that typically, there's only a couple of ppl attacking a CV group at any one time. With ack the way it is, a single a/c has far less of a chance of surviving than a typical squadron strength of 12 aircraft, so ppl don't do it. Besides that, with P-47s and -38s carrying as much (or more) as a dive bomber, the ability to tangle with fighters once you drop your bombs is more desirable. But... if 12 SBDs came down on a CV at the same time, chances are its over for the CV, as the ack can't get everyone at the same time.
As for the original list...here's my short list...
A-26 Invader, PB4Y-2, He-177, J2M, G.55, Yak-3
Course, since its a wishlist, how about SAR, artillery, and the ability to bring tanks ashore with LSTs?
Donning my Kevlar and heading for the bunker, flame away! :D
